Why? We had them coaching junior teams and as assistants to the great Mary without any success. Bring in a quality outside who is not part of a backroom deal and who has a track record.
yes thats right, to mary, who knew f**k all, now hornby has been the attacking coach for one of the best attacks in the league, as well as dean being one of the defence coaches for one of the best defences in the league. Also it is very well known that dean young loves to promote from within. and if they can get our nurseries right, we could be on the right path

Hornby has been an attacking coach for most of his career performing as a junior coach or assistant first-grade coach. Under Mary, our attacking game was terrible (Hornby). Under Holbrook (who is an attacking coach) it is hard to gauge Hornby's influence. Young showed his talent when he took over after Mary left.

The tactics we employed in defence in attack these last years has been woeful.

In recognition of that we have 2 new coaches 1 in charge of defence 1 in charge of attack.

It is absurd for us to keep rambling on that it will be the same as last year the simple fact is it will be different now whether that is better or worse remains to be seen but rest assured the structures and strategies will be different.

You are absolutely right. And if the club wants to appoint either Hornby or Young as head coach for 2024, it should have hired either of them or one of them to be an assistant to Griffin this year; just to demonstrate how their coaching has improved after being away from the club.

The only people that keep rambling on about Young as our next coach is us.

There is absolutely not 1 shred of evidence that Young will be the coach next coach, we just keep getting our knickers in a knot about it because it suits the narrative of pointing fingers at the club.

There is no need whatsoever to have Young or Hornby here this year.

Exactly, I‘ve asked the forum several times for any evidence about this ‘OMG! Dean Young next coach!’ commentary but never get an answer. Same with: no Hornby! and / or let’s get Ryles, we should get Hasler, we should get Toovey ... no evidence of any interest from any of them.
I understand the desire to discuss hypotheticals but, personally, I can‘t wind-up to the level of developing strong opinions about things that probably won’t ever happen. Besides, every coach has an element of trial and error about them. There’s no guarantee that even Bennett, Bellamy or Robinson would take Saints to a premiership.
