Commonwealth Bank Tri Series

there are only 2 matches in Sydney. That sucks. Only one involving Sri Lanka. A good friend of mine has a massive man crush on Malinga (despite being South African, he admitted to preferring Malinga to Smith), so we need to go to a Sri Lanka match see him.

This is the series in which Tendulkar will make his hundredth international century. He's been named in the squad, it's been written. Indian squad is as follows:
MS Dhoni (captain and keeper), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Manoj Tiwary, Parthiv Patel (keeper), Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav, Irfan Pathan, R Vinay Kumar, Praveen Kumar, Rahul Sharma, R Ashwin.

India v Sri Lanka should have been scheduled for Canberra, Newcastle, Gold Coast etc.

How many games do you expect in Sydney???

In the past they had at least 3. 2 Preliminaries and a Final

I'll be going to the Australia v India game on 26 Feb.

Funny that my cricket going will have come full circle. Because 26 Feb, 20 year ago that day I was also at an ODI at the SCG

I have no problem with Sydney only having 2 matches. Firstly that’s how it used to be with the 3rd being the final. Nowadays Sydney gets a twenty20 (as well as Melbourne) so why shouldn’t the finals be spread to Brisbane, Adelaide etc.

Anyone know if they are going to play cricket at the AFL stadium here on the Goldy??..

Not at the moment but if they end up expanding the Big Bash a Gold Coast team will happen which will lead to possible Internationals at the venue.

Cheers..Seems like a good stadium from the outside..It's a lot better than the old Carrara..

It'd be nice to see an actual sport played there..:p

I liked the Tri Series and didn't think they should've canned it in the first place. They probably wont be sell outs either since School will be back when it's on and the like.

Carlton and United World Series > 2 x 5 meaningless ODI series

100% agreed. It's funny how during the 2007/08 season, everyone was pushing for the tri-series format to be scrapped. But, it's amazing how boring the 2x5 ODI series became for the last three years (including the 7 ODI series vs England last year). Even though Australia played in all games, very few of them sold-out. There should be heavy promotion for the tri-series.

The only tweak I would make is that it would be a fantastic opportunity to play the games involving the neutral countries, which are traditionally held at WACA/Adelaide Oval/Gabba, in regional areas (e.g. Launceston, Albury, Canberra, Newcastle, Gold Coast, and Geelong would be the ones that come to mind). With proper promotion, those regional areas, with about 15000-20000 capacity, would easily sellout (providing that the ODI series is played in January, immediately after the SCG test). Much better playing them there rather than a few thousand or so turning up at WACA/Adelaide Oval/Gabba.

Here here. I'd gladly got to an ODI in Newcastle. Mind you I live in hope that there's do that during the 2015 world cup as well.

Though I do admit I was on with them having a 3 ODI CH series as well as they had back in 2004-05 They reduced the number of Rounds from 4 to 3 that summer so you still had the same number of games

I'll be interested in what the attendances will be like. Not only will this be the first Tri-Series played in Australia for 4 years but also the fact that they're being played outside School Holidays. Since India wanted to come later it's meant that the season ends later when people here are getting into football mode.

I hope we rest the likes of Punter and Hussey in this ODI series. Need to start giving younger guys international experience.
