Invers in gonna have us looking back wistfully at the Hilditch era with some of these left field selections.

Selector at the press conference said they are asking CA to allow them to take 2 wicket keepers to West Indies... nice that they want to reward Haddin with a luxury holiday to the Carribbean.

The Forrest thing isn't exactly unprecedented.

Going back 30 years it's not uncommon to have a bloke in good Shield form elevated to the ODI side to see how he copes with the pressure of international cricket, as ODI cricket is seen as far less important than test cricket.

Clint McKay though... WTF? I thought we'd accepted he was rubbish and moved on. James Faulkner would have been a much better choice.

Don't have a problem with McKay tbf. Good consistent performer. They obviously want to break Harris. Why not give Siddle or Hilf or both a chance to show that they can translate their test quality to ODIs?.

Duss and Muss is hardly looking to the future, but then they go for Forrest who is more on hope than performance. Duss is probably being picked as a spinning all rounder which is something the side needs, but surely it's better to invest in Smith and SOK or Maxwell for that (understanding that Maxwell is injured), than a pensioner.

At least Marsh S is being sent to the Shield to work out how to play. I have no love for Ferguson, but this is the format he can actually play. Quiney, Klinger, Cooper, Dunk, even f**king Cowan and Faulkner have all smashed Forrest this season for runs, ave and s/r in the Ryobi and most have far more over several years to back it up. Even Uzi with a ton in his only innings and obvious Test credentials is a massive step up over Forrest. Almost up their with Beer getting picked for tests or Bailey getting in the T20 side (let alone captaining it). f**king joke.

Happy for Forrest but it is a strange selection. I would have thought Ferguson or Cooper would be more suited to ODI cricket. Forrest has been in good form in Shield cricket though.

listening to Inva's explanation as to why Bailey was picked as skipper in the T/20s was a bit scarey.

Talked in cliches, "he's has good leadership capabilities and he is well respected by alot of players", he was very Hildich like and gave no reference to his cricketing strengths or abilities.

Not sure why Harris is being played in the ODI format. I really don't think we have picked enough young blokes. Give Hussey and Ponting a rest. Replace Dussey with Smith. I just hope Wade has a good ODI series because it will put pressure on Haddin.

Agree don't get Harris, if he is still around come the WC then pick him but we should be preserving him for Test cricket. Plus McDermott, Coulter-Nile or Faulkner deserved a go.

Just so many contradictions in that squad. Invas said they were looking to the future plus experience then why have Dussey there, isn't Clarke, Ponting and Hussey more than enough experience in the batting? Then you got the apparent picking on T20 form and Forrest has 27, 16, 12, 59, 1, 33*, 0, 33 for his form line.

Invers is pretty good on the bullshit of late. Oh we feel Callum Ferguson isn't playing well despite him killing it in the Ryobi Cup??? They have picked Cooper for everything they can this summer except for the ODI side which he should be in IMO.
