 Forrest.

Good on him, he's certainly helped the Bulls out this season but he's nothing but a solid hand. Can't believe he's even being considered for all forms.

Chandimal has been playing as a specialist batsmen recently, seems handy enough hold his spot on his batting alone too.

Forrest??? Why would you continue to Pick Dussey??? He's a 34 yr old Plodder who has a shithouse ODI record. Faulkner should have been given a go as well i really rate this kid.

Invers is pretty good on the bullshit of late. Oh we feel Callum Ferguson isn't playing well despite him killing it in the Ryobi Cup??? They have picked Cooper for everything they can this summer except for the ODI side which he should be in IMO.

Becoming quite obvious the selectors have their favourites and will use one selection policy for them and use another one to reject other players. Really I'm starting to see little difference between the new and old selectors, some players must be thinking wtf do I need to do when a guy like Forrest is getting in on Shield form and then McKay who has good overall figures but pretty average form in Shield cricket is being picked on BBL form.

Pattinson hopes to play in tri-series
Brydon Coverdale
February 1, 2012

The fast bowler James Pattinson is confident he will be fit to play in the second half of the Commonwealth Bank Series. Pattinson is recovering from a foot injury that ruled him out of the final two Tests against India after he made an outstanding start to his Test career, with 25 wickets at an average of 18.12 in his first four matches in the baggy green.

After the Sydney Test, scans showed Pattinson had the early signs of stress fractures in his left foot and he was declared unfit for the rest of the Test series. However, Pattinson now believes he will be able to return in time for the end of the triangular one-day series, which would also make him available for the tour of the West Indies that follows.

"My recovery is going really well at the moment," Pattinson said on the Cricket Australia website. "I'm about three weeks away from coming back. My foot is feeling good. I'm back running and doing some bowling. I'll hopefully be back for the one-day international series about halfway through it, about the fifth one-dayer and then hopefully we can get into the finals and I'll be right for them."

Australia's fifth match in the series is against India in Brisbane on February 19, but even if Pattinson does not come up for that game he could be in the mix for the last few matches and the finals, which are scheduled for the first week of March. That Pattinson's injury does not appear to be long-term is good news for an Australia side already missing the vice-captain Shane Watson and the fast man Pat Cummins.

Cummins has been all but ruled out of the Australian summer due to a heel injury but he believes he could be fit for the Caribbean tour in March. Watson has been told not to rush back too soon and he said earlier this week that his calf injury was proving difficult to shake, and at this stage there is no clear time-frame for his return.

SL lost to a Vic 2nd XI today, which was closer to a 3rd XI with all the ODI, T20I and injured players out of the Vic 1st XI who are in SA.

Prick. Had him in my dream team, wonder if it's worth swapping him for Sangakkara, probably not in his form

Woeful f**ken selection IMO. Coulter-Nile, Laughlin, McDermott plus others are better options than Hilfy. Watch him go out and take wickets not though .

I would have gone Faulkner.

But if it means that the young players are getting more 4-day stuff in... Then I'm all for it.

Wouldn't have minded McDermott he isn't really in the Test frame yet so some ODI experience would have helped.

I agree with Timbo tbh. They've hardly played real cricket lately plus there's still a lot of games to go.

I agree to a point. I think McDermott is going to be much more of an ODI specialist then a first class bowler though. Oh well good luck to Hilfy.

Watson close to comeback
CB Series target for all-rounder
February 8, 2012

All-rounder Shane Watson could make his return for Australia in the Commonwealth Bank ODI Series if his comeback in Sydney club cricket this weekend goes well.

Hamstring and calf problems have kept Watson out of action but he is due to play for Sydney grade side Sutherland on Saturday.

And Australia coach Mickey Arthur will be keeping a close eye on Watson's return to action, with a view to a possible recall for the 30-year-old.

Arthur said: "He's built his body up to where it needs to be and hopefully we can get sustainable performances out of Shane once he gets back in.

"Hopefully it goes well for him this weekend then we can reassess where he is and hopefully get him back for the one-day comp.

"He's got to be happy his body can sustain batting and bowling. But as long as we are all happy and he fits the bill, I'm sure we'll consider bringing him back in."

Paceman James Pattinson is also in line for a return after he came through training in Melbourne unscathed.

The 21-year-old has been sidelined for more than a month after injuring his foot during the second Test against India.
