The ref was told at least 3 times that Mam was called a monkey. He responded with ‘let’s go, we’ll deal with it later.’ The players continued to say it and then the ref offered the formal complaint.

Agree, can't blame the ref here. Im sure Leniu would have been sent off had he heard the comment.

Pretty clear by his comments that he was told to "keep the game moving" or something along those lines. I get the feeling the NRL wanted fast games with minimal stoppages on the big stage and pressure was applied to officials.

All in all, this is just a shocking incident that took away from what should've been a celebration for the game. As soon as Leniu started talking after the game...let's just say it all made sense. A single-digit IQ bonehead.

All in all, this is just a shocking incident that took away from what should've been a celebration for the game. As soon as Leniu started talking after the game...let's just say it all made sense. A single-digit IQ bonehead.

Josh McGuire got a seven match ban in the ESL for calling an opponent a "spastic". Considering the damage his actions have done towards a great effort by the NRL to promote our game, Leniu should be looking at a similar ban. Should....but probably won't.
