St. Paul bar to roast bear for Packers-Bears game

The Associated Press
Saturday, January 22, 2011; 5:23 PM

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A sports bar owner in Minnesota is showing his support for the Green Bay Packers in this weekend's game against the Chicago Bears in a very literal way - by roasting a bear.
Blake Montpetit, the co-owner of Tiffany Sports Lounge in St. Paul, says he plans to cook a 180-pound black bear in a pig-roaster over hickory and charcoal on Sunday. He says his cousin shot it in northern Wisconsin during bear hunting season, which runs in September and October, and then froze it.
Montpetit says he planned to serve the meat to customers, but the state health department rejected the plan because the meat is unprocessed. Instead, customers can take photos with the roasting bear.
After the game, the meat will go his cousin's party in Somerset, Wis.

thank god the new job doesn't start until a week after the super bowl.

would love to see a green bay/pittsburgh super bowl. will need to be very inebriated if we get jets/bears.
Yeah because it would be great to see the Steelers, yet again in another damn SB.
Booorrring.

Hope it's Jets V Bears.

Hope it's Jets V Bears.

i'll love to watch a super bowl that consists of

run, run, check down pass to running back, punt
run, run, geniused pass deep that gets picked off
repeat until result is obtained

This.

Even though I don't really like the Steelers (hate the Jets) and they've been in multiple super bowls, I would much rather see them play because it would create a more exciting game.

im tipping steelers v packers
so you can beat its bears v jets

which will be painfully boring imo. Dont think either side are a very good side to watch play, defense is good to watch but both are too hit and miss to produced the goods offensively in the SB

packers v steelers would be a pretty awesome SB. Both good aggressive Defenses, both have their own clear identities in offense and can put up points

big matchup in the nfc title game will be the bears' very good defensive front against a packers' offensive line that has been in grand form in the playoffs. rodgers' mobility is key. Even if they get pressure on him, he can move around and still make throws. Big matchup will be with Peppers: they move him around from side to side. I try to get him matched up against the rookie Bulaga on the GB right-hand side more than the veteran Chad Clifton on the left, who has played very well in their two playoff games so far. Still, the bears' secondary will have to play even better than they did last week against a phenomenal green bay passing game and receiving corps. Chicago has also gotta shut down the run and make the Pack one-dimensional, which is entirely possible.

Cutler really has to improve on last week's showing, even though he didn't throw a pick last week. Against a very athletic, tricky gb defense, if he throws some of the passes he threw last week, it will be a comfortable gb win. Gunna be a great matchup with the fast chicago wrs against the fast gb dbs. Big matchup up front: Chicago's tackles against the fast, strong clay matthews coming off the edge (got a real bad feeling about that for chicago with their tackles, omiyale and the young bloke webb). Plus, garza/kreutz against bj raji, crucial to chicago running the ball. Matt Forte will be evry important in the passing game as well as the running game- he's an underrated receiver, and underneath he could be important option to stop cutler making risky throws. The other important player could be te greg olsen: he is probably the players most likely to cause matchup problems v the gb d.

Ultimately, I don't think Cutler plays well enough against this very good d, and i don't think rodgers can be slowed down by this chicago d. that'll be the difference

packers 27, bears 20

in the afc, i think the jets defense can slow down roethlisberger. pittsburgh's pass protection with that banged-up offensive line will be critical, even with roethlisberger's mobility and playmaking ability. but i think they have to run the ball a fair bit because the jets secondary can take away a lot of their passing game.

the offense has to be careful not to put too much pressure on sanchez. i'd be working on a lot of short throws, underneath to tomlinson and stuff.

i think the jets' defense can hold off roethlisberger just enough to give the jets offense enough points to win with.

jets 20, steelers 17

wow...this Green Bay offense is unreal.

Aaron Rodgers...wow...what a player. I voted for him in the pro bowl...how on earth doesn't he get in.
