and back to halfback circus........ sound familiar anyone?

Half-baked Tigers out of options

TIGERS officials don't want to shift Robbie Farah to halfback on Friday, fearing it would crucify his chances to dislodge NSW hooker Michael Ennis from the Blues team for Origin III.
The Tigers are facing a halfback crisis with Robert Lui named at No.7 yesterday but next to no chance of playing the Dragons.
Back-up options Tim Moltzen has a season-ending knee injury and Arana Taumata this week left to join the Cowboys, which leaves Blake Lazarus the frontrunner.
To make matters worse, new fullback recruit Wade McKinnon - one of five players who did not train yesterday - is also racing the clock to beat a hip injury.
Coach Tim Sheens will give Lui every chance to overcome a knee injury, but The Daily Telegraph understands shifting Farah from hooker to halfback was quickly shelved.
A starring performance by Farah at No. 9 will all but assure him Ennis's Blues jumper for the dead rubber against Queensland.
Interestingly, Farah also failed to train because of a corked shin but won't miss the trip to Kogarah.
Sheens said the short week had done none of his players any favours and Lui would be given plenty of time to prove his fitness.
"Robbie has a bit of a leg injury - he took a bump to the knee - there's no ligament issues, but we're just waiting for it to settle down," Sheens said.
"We will give him until the last minute to get ready, and if he doesn't make it I've got a couple of other options. In the next 24 hours I'll have a better idea. I'm not going to get ahead of myself. We're unlikely to consider Robbie [Farah] there."
Chris Heighington (hip), McKinnon and Lote Tuqiri (knee) failed to train yesterday, but Sheens said it was precautionary.
Sheens was delighted his Tigers had won four in a row, but did not see the Dragons clash as a guide to how well his side was travelling.
"I don't think this will be a defining week for us because there are still 11 weeks to go and I wouldn't think any side is in semi-finals form," Sheens said.
"Every team is up and down. Maybe the Dragons are just more consistent than most other teams at the moment, but they are in a similar position to us.
"They played Sunday and were involved in a bruising game [against the Sharks] and may or may not have some issues in their camp."
In brighter news for the Tigers, giant prop Keith Galloway survived his first-up hitout against Canberra and will start up front on Friday.
Farah was one of several players who last night joined their partners at Concord Oval for a cooking promotion with last year's MasterChef winner, Julie Goodwin, to help promote this weekend's Women in League round.

I'd be playing Farrah at halfback if I were you.

Origin robs you of players enough as it is, without having to shift players around on a normal weekend so they get a look in.

Shame both these sides aren't at full strength.

Good luck.

There's no point weakening one position to strengthen another. Ive gotta give Shine's praise for this one, we've all been critical of him for playing musical chairs with positions because of an injury. It looks like we are going to get a direct swap here & Lazarus is going to be given another chance, I just hope Sheens leaves him at halfback for the whole game & doesnt move him all over the shop.

It doesnt matter who's wearing whatt numbers, the 6, 7 & 9 all rotate at time thru games, Benji plays half 50% of the time.
Taumata woulda been handy right now with Lui in doubt

why did they release him now ffs ? I dont care if he wasnt playing perfect footy, he had potential and would certainly come in handy now. And talking of not playing perfect football the name Robert Lui comes to mind, im sick of hearing all about his speed his talent his potential I WANT TO START f**kING SEEING IT ! i Cant fathom letting a guy leave with obvious ability and keep someone who has shown bugger all in the NRL, he had 1 reasonable game but i now think it was just an aberration.
Balls up Lui and show us what u can do or piss off, your time to shine is now not in 10 years when you'll look 50.

^^

its only his first full year in 1st grade playing the toughest position in a football side. Furthermore he's a natural 5/8th being groomed into a halfback which will take time. Some people expect the world from him, he's only 20 ffs

Feel bad for the tigers.

Fitzy or which ever deadsh*t you play at half back pretty much kills any remote chance you had of beating us.

Dragons by 30.

Exusues !! I dont want to hear them anymore, i dont expect him to be great BUT i do want to see improvement and i do want to see his potential, he is isnt showing anything that makes me think he'll ever be good let alone brilliant. Fifita is ONLY 20 and he has shown plenty AND improved.

He may have looked fantastic in TYC but thats history now, its not unreasonable to suggest he may be a another player that is unable to make the next step into NRL, plenty have failed to do so. So in that case i dont want to be here this time next year and have failed to purchase a halfback because we waited and waited to see if he was going to suceed or fail to step up to the bigtime,
A quick question, how many clubs would be chasing him if he was on the market now ? I dont know if the answer would be zero but it would be close, whats everyone else think?
Anyway hope he proves me wrong bigtime!

The Dragons scoring 30 points on Friday night is as likely as Ben Creagh making more than 50 metres in an Origin match.

So it means the Tigers would have to play like we are on Stillnox & Red Bull.

Hmmmm. That has happened before this year

you mean the tigers, for an attacking side they have scored 30 points or more 3 times, and the dragons not using much attack 30 points or more 4 times

I think Lui is getting there, needs more time (perhaps not 2 years aka The Morris Experiment). Its a pity that with Moltzen injured and only Lui / Lazo as halfbacks we let Tomato go, i would of liked to see him stay until Moltzen got the all clear. Anyway as stated previously his contract $ are needed elsewhere.

Im praying Shines picks a like for like but let's face it, he doesnt have a history of such selections

I gotta agree with sentiments already posted here.

Fitzy will move to 6, Benji to 7.
