DJ .... I admire somebody for having a crack at it .... but some of the values listed are way off the mark

Gavin Lester $150,000 ? (my guess $50k)
Chad Robinson $130,000 ? (my guess $50k)
Chris Walker $250,000 ? (my guess $130k)
Craig Wing $450,000 ? (my guess $240k)

etc etc

I know you were having a crack at their prices in the open market, but really only halfbacks and some props get over the $300 k mark and the majority of all players are under the $200k mark

its food for thought tho

Oink !

Here's an estimate on what the open market would most likely pay to sign any of these players.

Adrian Morley 250
Anthony Minichiello 300
Anthony Tupou 75
Brad Fittler 500
Brett Finch 250
Chad Robinson 130
Chris Flannery 200
Chris Walker 250
Craig Fitzgibbon 250
Craig Wing 450
Gavin Lester 150
Heath L'Estrange 50
Ian Henderson 75
Jason Cayless 175
Justin Hodges 250
Luke Dorn 150
Luke Phillips 175
Luke Ricketson 300
Michael Crocker 275
Ned Catic 200
Peter Cusack 200
Ryan Cross 250
Shannon Hegarty 275
Stuart Webb 200
Todd Byrne 200

Unfortunately, this squad comes to $5.58M

The ones I think are way off are MOrley, Dorn, Catic, Webb, Byrne, Phillips, Cayless, Fitzgibbon.

Morley and cayless on less than 300,000 = no chance, Cayless on less than 200,000 is less likely, and the others I named would be on alot less than you guessed.

SYDNEY, June 18 AAP - St George Illawarra halfback Mathew Head and teenage prop Justin Poore re-signed with the National Rugby League club today until the end of 2006.
Head's signing comes a day after the club released another young halfback - Brett Firman - to join the Sydney Roosters.
The 22-year-old Head has been a fixture in the No.7 jersey this season and said he hoped to play his entire career with the Dragons.
"I never wanted to leave the Dragons so I am very happy negotiations are complete and I can just concentrate on footy," Head said.
"I always wanted to stay.
"Being my junior club, I hope to finish my career here.
"I want to play good football over the next two years so I can extend my contract.
"Since I made grade, Nathan Brown has always been my coach so I'm happy knowing he is going to be around.
"I like his style of coaching and play."
Head started the season as the second-string halfback behind Firman but was called into the NRL side in round two.
Firman subsequently broke his leg in Premier League.
"My goal for the season was to be the No.1 halfback and jump Brett Firman for the position," Head said.
"When the opportunity came I went for it.
"It doesn't get any easier each week but playing alongside Trent Barrett helps enormously."
Poore, 19, has been one of the club's real surprise packets, playing all but one of the 14 games.
"My goal was to make my debut and hopefully play a handful of games," Poore said.
"To become a regular in the 17-man line-up has been exciting.
"Being a local junior and having had Brownie as a coach since grade, I'm rapt to re-sign for another two years."
St George Illawarra chief executive Peter Doust said he anticipated finalising negotiations with Ben Hornby, Jason Ryles, Brent Kite and Mark Riddell next week.
"We are very pleased to see Mathew Head and the other young players like Justin Poore, Ashton Sims and Dean Young continue their development as first graders with the Dragons," Doust said.
"I expect the others to be clarified next week."

I would hate to say this but even I couldn't see how Lester, Phillips, Catic, Webb, Dorn, Walker, Cusak and Byrne could be earning anything to what you have commented on.

yeah its obvious they know a lot about football and player payments - the biggest joke of the year....geez i forgot those figures were put up by a guy that follows the real Rorters - the ones that got slammed in 2002...

He certainly would know his figures!!! I wonder if he is a 36-24-36??

and yet they are still the only figures for a 25 player squad that have been put up.

And why is that??

Because it means diddly squat that's why.....

You might as well put 40 different dollar amounts ranging from 50 grand to 500 grand into a hat and allocate each player a figure based on what number you draw out..... it will be just as accurate.

Ditto.
Add in Crocker, Cross & Finch apparently came cheap too...

I'm all for bagging the all-star line-up but be reasonable 8)
