Gee the Roosters club must really hold Mitchell Pearce in high regard for it to end up costing then both Soward and Lewis. From what ive seen of him so far hes shown a little bit of promise but really looks like he needs another season or two in the lower grades before hes up to steering a first grade side around.

Luke MacDougall Signs with Knights

MacDougall Brothers Reunited

Monday, 28 May 2007 - Newcastle Knights

Former St George Illawarra utility back, Luke MacDougall will join his older sibling at EnergyAustralia Stadium as soon as tomorrow, after agreeing to terms with the Newcastle Knights.

MacDougall was released from the Dragons today and will switch clubs mid-season in a deal that will see him wear the Knights strip until the end of the 2009 season.

“The club was initially interested in securing Luke’s services for the current season but missed that opportunity last year,” said Knights Operations Manager, Stephen Crowe.

“More recently the chance arose for Luke to join the club this year and agree to a further two seasons.

“He’s keen to play alongside his brother and we think they bring the best out in each other.

“Given his age and his proven ability on the field we’re hopeful the Knights can provide the environment for him to go to the next level.”

“His try scoring record at Souths was quite outstanding and the pace and strength that he has will certainly be a worthwhile addition to our playing roster, Knights Coach Brian Smith said.”

MacDougall’s arrival in Newcastle coincides with the departure of Knights forward, Clint Newton, who has been granted an immediate release from the club.

“Clint is one of those players who is a born and bred Novocastrian, he’s come through the juniors, played 100 first grade games for the club – something that only a small group of players have achieved and he should be very proud of that,” said Mr Crowe.

“We’re sorry that he’s leaving the club but he goes with our very best wishes.”

Rabbitohs Re-sign Gordon, Talanoa and Paea

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have extended the contracts of three local juniors today, with Yileen Gordon re-signing for a further two seasons, and Fetuli Talanoa and Eddie Paea earning a further year with the Club.

Gordon, 20, has played 24 NRL games for the Rabbitohs after having made his debut for the Rabbitohs against the Bulldogs in 2005. Gordon came to the senior ranks from Alexandria Rovers, and has represented the Junior Kangaroos in 2005.

Talanoa, 19, made his first grade debut late in 2006 against the Sea Eagles, having played four NRL matches to date. A local junior from the Mascot Jets, Talanoa excelled in the Rabbitohs’ junior grades to earn his first grade position. He also represented Tonga in 2005 and 2006.

Paea, 19, represented NSW under 19s in the curtain-raiser to the opening State of Origin match last Wednesday, and made his NRL debut against the Wests Tigers in the final round of the 2006 season. Paea also emanated from the Mascot Jets junior nursery and is seen as a future leader at the Rabbitohs.

“We have made a commitment as a Club to help develop our own local juniors and bring them through the ranks to the NRL level, and these signings are examples of that,” Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said today.

“Yileen, Fetuli and Eddie are all outstanding talents, have all played first grade by the age of 18, and it’s players like these three that we see as the future of our Club. We are delighted that they have agreed to extend their careers at our Club.”

spewing.

He'll go great guns down in Melbourne.

With the depth they already have...its astounding how he'll feel confident of a spot in the team when Crocker returns...but with Kaufusi's possible retirement...never know.
