Anyways back on topic.

Should be interesting to see what our new signings add, also what they intend to do with the warriors kid, because we have a plethora of back rowers lining up for their crack.

I guess if he is good enough he'll be there.

He was NSW cup PROP of the year. He has played prop in his days thus far he can play backrow and may be an option however likely to play prop. Helps ease the loss of Hodgson, Armit, Paea etc.

Just cleared about 30 posts of garbage from this thread. If you wish to argue, do so elsewhere. This thread is for confirmed (with source) signings and discussion around said signings. Anything else will be moved and if we have to move certain users posts consistently then that user will be banned from posting in the thread.

Mark Wade is a Newcastle Knight

Mark Wade signs one-year deal with Knights

JAMES GARDINER

BLOCKBUSTING Merewether Carlton second-rower Mark Wade will be among the new faces when the Newcastle Knights assemble for the start of pre-season training today.
The 21-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Knights yesterday and will undergo fitness testing and a medical assessment with the rest of the squad at the University of Newcastle today.
The second-tier contract caps an amazing year for the Dubbo-born man mountain.
In just his first full season of first grade, Wade was integral to the Greens' record-breaking, undefeated season in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union and was named the competition’s best player.
Rival NRL clubs Manly and Canberra both showed an interest in Wade, but his preference was to stay in Newcastle where he is studying a double degree in surveying and engineering.

Ahh my bad, thought I read somewhere he played second rower.

I really don't know what they're going to do with him though; Tolman,Kasiano,Tapau have earned their spots and with the addition of Graham he might see a fair bit of NSW cup.

Graham is the signing that interests me . . . I could be either eating humble pie or enjoying a bit of 'told you so'.

I had an elongated 'discussion' on another forum last year when someone said Graham would walk into the Qld SOO squad.

I reckoned Graham would be lucky to walk after 80 minutes in the NRL. Time will tell

I think James Graham will go down as one of the greatest ever Brits.

Last years 4 nations, he was arguably the best forward in it, and he was walking fine after holding his own against a formidable Roo's pack, and a destructive Kiwi's pack.

James Graham will be the buy of the year. No if's and's or but's.

If he can play well against the Kangaroos pack, why would an NRL game hurt him?

It's the same thing every time a Super League player comes over, and England has been producing top quality forwards for some time. It's their backs that suck.

Just being honest mate i see Taupau playing in the backrow. He is a big fast kid so he is easily able to adjust out wide, and if you know what the kid is like you would know he will be something special if he can keep fit and injury free.

Obviously Tolman and Graham will not be pushed anywhere else, Kasiano is to big to go to the backrow. If this Gavet is as talented as all the kiwis seem to think he is and the fact he was NSW Cup of the year should see him play a bit of that for us then perhaps force his way in or if he shreds it at training i see him getting a gig on the bench.

I see our pack looking like this

8. Tolman 9. Ennis (C) 10. Graham
11. Pritchard 12. Eastwood (if fit) other wise maybe Payne or Stagg 13. Halatau

14. Eastwood (if he doesn't start) Millington/Payne/Browne/Stagg
15. Kasiano
16. Taupau
17. Gavet

Only way i see it being any different is if Finucane or Jackson force their way in or if dymock or des (if he gets over early) want a utility and it could be any of romeleo/keating/reynolds depends on who plays 5/8.

Big big call, i hope your right mate. I'm confident he will go well though buy of year is huge.

FYI on James Gavet -- speculation from Warriors insiders was that despite being NSW Cup prop of the year, he wasn't seen by the incoming coach as a prop, and was also signed by the Dogs as a second-rower. If he lifts his defensive work rate, he should be knocking on the top grade door sooner, rather than later.

Thanks for your opinion mate, however i still can't see how we would want him as a backrower, we have jackson and finucane coming through along with blokes like pritchard, eastwood, stagg, halatau, payne, millington already above him.

It's not opinion, it was the inside word. Still, either as prop or second-rower, a lot have been surprised he has gone to the Dogs with the amount of guys supposedly ahead of him in both positions. Both the Eels and Panthers were also interested (the Eels having signed his younger brother, too) -- clubs he would arguably be closer to top grade in. That would suggest his decision to go the Dogs was based on money. If your club offered more money, then perhaps they hold him higher that you assume they do -- time will tell.

Not saying your inside word means nothing mate, but every day someone claims some crap. I heard it was the tigers and dogs who were fighting it out for him and the tigers offered more money from what i heard too.

Doesn't mean either of us are right, though that list i provided of players you can't argue he would jump ahead of any of them unless he puts in the hard yards and earns it. Maybe why he signed a 2 year deal. When Des takes over i expect blokes like stagg and millington likely to head to uk and maybe someone like halatau might be headed off aswell.

The only way I can judge him is how he plays against Australians and from what I've seen he is ordinary
