Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have signed Cronulla Sharks full-back Ryan Tongia until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old Papua New Guinean will hope to impress enough in the Wildcats' last four games to earn a longer deal.
Wildcats chairman Andrew Glover said: "Ryan will be a much needed, added boost for us as we reach the final few games of the season.
"His NRL experience and passion for the game will be a great asset to the side," Glover added.
"With the opportunity of signing a longer contract with the club, Ryan will be eager to demonstrate exactly what he is capable of and I'm sure we will see the best of him in the next few weeks."
Tongia, who made two appearances for Papua New Guinea at the 2010 Four Nations, can play at either wing or full-back.
