Considering the new cap number is unknown and the majority of clubs have a lot of players off contract i doubt any club is over/rorting the cap for 2018 yet.

On a related note, Kearney stated on radio sport that Hoffman will not be extending his stay beyond this season.

Surely, there would have to be a clean out at the Warriors soon especially if the rumours about Folau going to the Warriors are true.

RTS as captain? Don't make me laugh. He's already struggling to live up to his coin without having that responsibility thrust on his shoulder!

Sad to see Tohu go but he has to do what's best. LEt's send him off with a premiership to his name!

Hoffman will be leaving. Lillyman highly likely too.

Foran will be offered something but will likely head back to Sydney.

Folau rumours are bs 2+2 journalism.

Maybe they have finally worked out how to use TPAs?
They pretty much have a whole country at their disposal.

This is an often trotted out myth. It's a struggle to get TPAs because the Warriors are 7th in line behind the All Blacks and 5 super rugby franchises. Hardly have a monopoly at our disposal.

Dat Warriors cap?!

A freaking bottomless pit.

Not at all, just damn good cap management. Second time in a couple of years they've done it with a star player- RTS for Tomkins, Harris for Hoffman, in both cases effectively getting upgrades for the same dollars.

Actually you can add Foran to that list too as he's probably been covered by Leuluai's departure (Leuluai would've been on mid level dollars, who's is prolly where Foran sits until he gets his shit together for a season). Plus there's Konrad Hurrell's (again, mid-level) salary which likely covers contract upgrades for those who justify them (Kata, Fusitua, maybe Hingano). And in 2018/19 we'll likely get more cap space as Vatuvei will retire or get pensioned off to the UK/France.

Wouldn't say 7th in line, they'd be on equal footing with the Super Rugby franchises probably slightly better than most of them individually. But yes they're still competing with them for the dollars and are miles behind the ABs.

Struggling to live up to his coin? Lol he was injured for 3/4 of the year. Calm down Champ.

It's pretty good isn't it.

Bring on another 15th yo
Haha with Kearney as coach it's possible.

I'm still super salty you guys nabbed RTS so you're no longer the 'feel good' team I cheer for when my Roosters are having a shit season.

Hence my whinging about your cap.

I guess that's always a risk when you sign a player from somewhere else... losing him after he develops in the NRL - kind of like James Maloney ;)

Roosters scuttling the Warriors by poaching Maloney reciprocated by the Warriors poaching RTS . . . exchanging a Land Cruiser for a Jip

Difference is Pop, everyone knew Maloney was coming off contract at the end of 2012, he approached the Warriors and asked for permission to negotiate early in 2011 as he said he wanted to returns to Australia, and the Warriors gave him that permission to negotiate and sign a deal if it came up. It was not forgone at that stage it was going to be the Roosters that signed him. The Roosters only became interested after Todd Carney went of the rails again during 2011 and they sacked him. Bit different circumstance viz-a-viz RTS.

Never said he was poached, just that there is always going to be some degree of risk signing players from abroad. They might be more open to leaving than others... like Maloney, who wanted to get back to Sydney once he had options. While money was surely a big factor in the RTS decision, I'm sure the lure of coming home helped.

Money was more the option considering RTS' "homecoming" left both of his parents and his younger brother back in Sydney where they still are.

I'm sure it (money) was the bigger consideration.

But coming from a similar background (family moved long distance as a teenager, I moved back in my early 20s), I know that despite parents not being there anymore, it's still where he grew up (home) - and he was older than I was when I moved away.

RTS is a good choice to lead for the present and future. 23 years old just like Simon Mannering was when he got the gig. Could be comedy gold for you but who knows what this may do for the Warriors. RTS has the skills, attitude and fitness to lead all the boys. Time will tell we know this sport can be cruel
