Wests Tigers are pleased to confirm the signing of talented outside back Taane Milne for the coming two seasons.

The new deal will see the 22-year-old Milne join Wests Tigers until at least the end of the 2019 season.

A two-time Junior Kiwi, Milne has played a total of 14 first-grade games for the St. George-Illawarra Dragons since making his NRL debut in Round 8, 2016, and made his senior representative debut for Fiji earlier this year in the Pacific Test against Tonga.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said he looked forward to Milne coming to Wests Tigers.

“Taane is a talented player who will add strike power to Wests Tigers,” said Cleary.

“He will be a valued member of the team as we continue to grow into the future.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed Milne to the club.

“Taane is clearly a talented young player and I’m sure will quickly become a fan favourite here at Wests Tigers,” said Pascoe. “We look forward to having him join us for the next two seasons.”

Milne will join Wests Tigers for pre-season training ahead of the 2018 NRL season.

That is some signing spree by the Tigers. Woods+Tedecso+Moses+Farah must have been on a mint.

The 4 you mention would have been close to half our cap alone.

I also believe next year will be the first time we aren't paying someone to play elsewhere for the first time in 7-8 years

You missed Josh Reynolds, Mahea Fonua, & Alex Twal.

At the start of this season, 22 of our squad were off contract at the end of this season, without looking it up I think only Liddle, Nofo, Brooks, Chee Kam, Sue have re-signed. When you consider that that Tigers offered Woods, Teddy & Moses $ 2.8 per year, and Wobbie the Wabbitoh cost us $750K this year ($600K of that is NOT for this year but money owed for previous years) that pays for most of that list.

Matulino, Packer & Reynolds are on big money but a lot less that money offered to the guys they are replacing.

Blokes like Thompson and MWZ (and Fonua if he doesnt lift) are likely to be fringe/ISP but are better players than what we have now such as Rankin, Kev Naiqama.

Its hard to say that this process is a negative for the Tigers.

Twal is potentially an excellent player and I was pretty sad to see him go, but I'd be very surprised if he's ready for NRL footy by round 1.

The Warriors have made a big splash today landing a franchise signing - Manaia Cherrington. World domination will surely ensue.

You watch much NSW Cup? I don't, but I keep seeing his name in the TOTW (5 times in fact) so he must be doing something right

I reckon he could push for a bench spot in round 1, starting would be near impossible with Packer/Matulino the likely

Reynolds cost more than what eels paid for Moses :)

Oh there's no doubt he's got the ability. He's just struggled for the consistency he's shown in the last two seasons so far this year. I think he's finding the step up to full time footy against men physically difficult. He'd probably be just fine for a game here and there if needed and I'd have thought a debut this years wasn't beyond him before he signed elsewhere. But at this stage I just think he needs a couple more kg on his frame and a bit more match fitness and experience to play regular NRL. It's not that he's small, I just think given he's 190cm he'll have to work a bit less if he's at that 108kg or 110kg mark. Right now his work ethic is great but at 103-104kg he definitely tires tackling the big bodies and taking the number of runs that he does.

The players we've lost to the tigers aren't dissimilar to Brendan santi, just lacking size or ability to step up at nrl level.

Yeah I always thought his size would be an issue in the step up - although I look at matt prior and he's a workhorse prop with a pretty small frame and gets by well

Reckon the tigers would wanna add 5kg muscle to his frame in the off season though
