I'd be interested to see if this is true. We certainly haven't gone on anything you could call a signing spree at first grade level in recent years.
The most notable was the 2013 pre-season where we picked up Jennings, Maloney, and SBW.
The senior core of our team - Pearce, Friend, JWH, Cordner, Aubusson, Guerra, (and SKD) all made their FG debut with the club, as far back as 2007 for some of them. Plus blokes like RTS who are now elsewhere.
Aside from them, most of our big names have been on the outer for various reasons at their previous club (Jennings, Maloney, Keary) or completely unsigned (Carney, Ferguson).

Tedesco is the biggest "poach" I can think of since Mason and O'Meley way back in 2008.

Why do Roosters fans get offended? Because every club in the NRL has poached as many, if not more, big names as us, and thrown stupid money at juniors, yet we're the ones who get bagged for it.
Roosters invest as much into junior reps and NYC as any other club and a lot more than some, I'd hazard a guess. Not having a large catchment means we scout harder in NZ, country QLD and NSW.

If calling people out on their pettiness because their club goes on poaching raids and still can't win shit is offended, then consider me triggered.

It's not poaching when the player comes begging to play for the roosters, anything to not play for dogs or tigers I suppose.

On a lighter note if anybody gets a chance to chat to Brett Kimmorley over a few beers about the time he was in negotiations with the Roosters, do it.

I don't know the inner details of that but understand he shook hands to join the Roosters and instead turned around and joined the Northern Eagles.

Its the Roosters MO to poach the cream of other clubs juniors. So be it.

Just don't crow like bitches that you nurture and develop players from obscurity. Its pathetic.

Too right mate, cliffy was a one club man through and through.

Whatever anybody says, manly was the team that were poaching players at their best. Nothing wrong with that, and it is part of rugby league, you play the game for premierships, not who can boast the biggest junior bases.

Mate quite a few years back the Tigers had a very good kid in their Ball side, at the time a kid of his ability were being offered about 10 grand a year to commit to a couple of years in the u20s. He had some offers from a few other clubs so the Tigers offered him 15 grand, the Chooks came in and signed him to a three year deal at 80 grand a year!!! The kid never got past u20s, and never got anywhere near the top grade.

Thats the way they operate.

So, you're saying the Tigers were right, the step up too much for the kid?

No I am just saying that all these kids that they have lured down to Bondi, are not kids who came down on a wing and a prayer to make the big time, they offered serious over the odds dollars, but good luck to them they have actually spotted some pretty good talent over the years and I guess they are not going to find much local talent in Rose Bay so what other choices do they have

lol what?

Suli? The kid who played Harold Matthews and SG Ball for Balmain? The actual definition of a Juniour

Repeat, outbidding for someone in 'neutral' territory (the topic of conversation was Boyd Cordner and Mitchell Pearce) is not poaching. Who are they being poached from? Taree doesn't have an NRL team.

As for Suli - my bad, I thought Tigers picked him up from Parra's rep teams.

Nice pick up, there is a reason players want to go to roosters and broncos, and it's got nothing to do with the brown paper bags.

Is it International Say the Opposite Day?

Paper bags are the straw that broke most players backs.

Relocate to where they'd do the NRL the most good . . . the Roosters would never lose supporters they have now if they moved to Perth for instance . . . realistically better, the Central Coast
