Staggs has bucket loads of natural footballing skills. The big worry for Brisbane is that he is a loose cannon off field. You can only manage to sweep so much under the rug with player behaviour before it all ends in tears or jail.

the bigger on field issue is he can’t tackle, which is a problem in the halves and I’ve not seen any natural ball playing or kicking abilities

he’s a centre, pretty good one at that
And maybe he’ll prove me wrong but it’s a big yikes for me with him in the halves

He has put on a few short kicks, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he plays well at 5/8 but on based on what we've all seen, you'd have to say he would make a better centre

For me it depends who is the halfback, if it's someone like Reynolds you could play him at 5/8 without a worry in the world

Coates under the tutelage of Bellamy is a terrifying prospect for the 15 other NRL teams as well as NSW. I can't remember the last time Bellamy had someone with Coates' physical attributes to work with, probably have to go back to GI/Izzy

I think it’s the Bellamy factor. Bellamy seems to have those natural fatherly skills that a person like Hynes thrives under. Not to be a smart arse blaza, but your club and coach would struggle to sign any descent young player. The odd journey man may take overs to supplement their super and sign with the Broncos.

I understand that and I agree with you but there's also a money factor, he isn't going to get a game if all their outside backs are fit

Hughes seems likely to stay for lower coin than he would get elsewhere. Think he just likes playing first grade, never really got a chance to do that at previous clubs and no guarantee he wouldn’t be a reserve grader if he was to go to another club

He had a pretty hefty offer from Manly at one stage to be fair, although I think they had to withdraw it to pay for more asbestos removal
