Curren to the dogs, doesn’t seem like a normal Canterbury tactic who are usually picking at Penrith players

He was excellent this year. I like the Brailey boys as players, but Jayden is so unlucky with injuries. Crossland was amazing at dummy half (those are top 10 for words I never thought I would write this time a year ago…)

The battle between Crossland and Kenny early this year went as expected for two manufactured hookers.

A minor miracle that both somehow are now average first graders.

Honestly as a Knights fan, I would have been filthy about resigning Crossland this time last year. Credit to the kid he somehow became a decent hooker on the fly during the season whilst never playing there before. It’s so tough with Brailey as he’s a great player and captain but in the past years he’s gone down after 2, 3 and 8 games. It kills the side.

Ill wager Crossland's turns back into the pumpkin in 2024
But hopefully for the knights Brailey can finally stay healthy so maybe that wont matter as much

I think he is decent enough now to know he is not a creative player at NRL level and not to overplay his hand every ruck. Can defend well too. As a second choice hooker in a squad that's enough.

Where as a guy like Josh Starling (not picking on him because he's a Raider) has a habit of making the wrong choice at the ruck. He also can't pass from dummy half but then again neither could Mitch Kenny until later this season. Soni Luke similarly was a massive disappointment with his pick up the ball at the ruck look around for a second and then do something. Obviously worked for him in reserves but NRL defences ate him up.

My point being neither Crossland or Kenny are complete liabilities anymore. They've embraced their limitations and play to them. Kenny even came up with some trickery to send the markers the wrong way for the GF winning try.
