PS Watch for Bryce to try to make a statement to the Penrith front rowers Friday ala the Webke hit (hopefully legal this time). PPS Deserved the best defence player award he got too. Watch the replay, his fitness is outstanding, repeat tackles unbelievable...

It was great to see Jeff take his chance with such relish. But also how pleased the Balmain PL side and coaches are for him. After he scored he pointed to them in the crowd.

I would expect they would be thrilled with him. So much work has been done turning the potentially good jersey flegg player of two years ago with butter fingers and non existant defensive skills into what ran onto the field last weekend. Jeff is a huge success story not only for himself but the development skills of the Balmain club because two years ago it seemed he would never realie his potential.

I couldn't agree more

The potential was always clear but it has taken a lot of work from Jeff and the Balmain coaching staff to identify and correct what were serious weaknesses in his game. He is still so young and still improving so if he keeps the effort up he'll go a very long way :)

I couldnt have witnessed two more contrasting games.
Yesterday he did what Ive been reading here and on the official forum for months what ppl were saying he can do, and he did it well, very well.
Good friday we went and had a look at the PL tigers /dragons game....he was stuck out in the centers like a shag on a rock....while in theory it couldve been a masterstroke, practically it looked to fail, he hardly saw any ball and Saints defence was up to it as well, plus he didnt get much game time.
Welcome to WESTS TIGERS Jeff.

He was playing in the backrow that day

Jeff always looks out of sorts in the backrow - theres no real reason he shouldn't go well there but it never ever works

For someone making their debut, Lima's performance was very strong but not surprising. He's really channeled that agression the right way over the past 18 months and look at him now, the way he hit the line in defence and attack was just awesome, i didnt see him take a backward step once.

It also bodes well that in getting a try on debut he equalled the feat of Bryce Gibbs last year - and given how well Bryce has improved from there - here'e hoping that it's onwards and upwards for Jeff!!

93 metres (from 11 runs) is far better than anything Paterson's provided in first grade!!!

Yeah also it reminded me of Heighnos' try up in Brissie....was that his debut though? Dont think so. Still good to see our young guys crossing the stripe.....and it dont just apply to nine year olds....scoring tries does give ur confidence a boost.

Junior league coaching has come a long way!!!

I *think* he's contracted to Balmain until the end of this year (although it could be next)

but seeing as thats almost certain to be upgraded to a wests tigers contract shortly it will probably be extended
