...on being named in his first Australian squad. After such a rough season, it's good to see his tremendous form rewarded with a bench spot to take on New Zealand.

It's a great reward for a bloke that has really put in, through tough times.

it is only a one off test in a few weeks so he can go straight to hospital after the game and get his shoulder looked at and hopefully get himself fit for next season.

Do we think he will actually get any game time??? I know he can play several positions but I feel he is only there as an emergency if one of the backs gets injured during the game.

They'll probably take Bird off later on and put Gidley in to play a different style of five eight. He could also possibly interchange with Smith as playing 80mins at test hooker would be a pretty good effort.

yeah either taking bird off, or shifting him to 2nd row.
and then playing a little hooker as well
theyre only ways i can see them using gidley in the team

Well done Kurt, played a fantastic game.

Unlucky not to join the others on debut who got tries.

I may be biast but he was almost close to MOTM, he set up gazzilion tries.

Kurt would be rated as the best fullback in the game if he played behind a decent side last season.
Next year will be his year i think.

Kidley had a top game, very involved, as said threw some lovely balls that resuted in tries, was very unlucky not to get one himself, came from nowhere to gather a kick (as we know he can) and just couldn't control it. He'll be in the Aus team for some time to come I reckon.

Congratulations Kurt on a fantastic debut. Ashame that he didn't get a try but he still played his heart out as we all know he can.

Cameron Smith gave the Conversion To Kurt as a gesture, so he could score some points on his debut game.

Totally deserved and was worth the selection. I hope he becomes a regular for Origin and Aus :p

Seemed to fill and Karmichael Hunt type role in attack, almost a second 5/8.

Can't wait to see the combination that he Mullen and Walsh will strike-up next year.
