We cannot lose both halves to get cronk. We Can't be on the market in 2 years time looking for a 6 and 7.

Cronk is only worthwhile if we hang onto Brooks.

He will make Brooks better and see him hit his potential.

Moses wants dollars and the broncos are chasing him hard. They can have him.

Both our halves will see their value plummet now that Cronk is on the market and supposedly chasing between 1 and 1.2 mil a season for 2 years.

Agree completely. This is what I would do if I was Cleary:
  • Broncos are chasing Moses for big money (like 700-800k big). You could let Moses go, give that money + another 200k, pimping Meriton penthouse for Cronk and his missus.
  • Offer Brooks a fair contract. I know he has been poor lately but halves are expensive these days. Offer him like 400-500k, bringing the total price of our halves to 1.5 million
  • With Cronk mentoring Brooks, we will see the return of 2014 form. Brooks has the skill, he just seems to lack the motivation and confidence
  • In 2019, Cleary can pull some strings and sign that 5/8 kid from Penrith to eventually partner Brooks. I don't know the kids name but by all reports he is an absolute gun.
We will be without a kicker though which is a bit of a worry. We should chase Holland to play on the wing to compensate. This is all just hypothetical as Cronk will likely go to Bulldogs, or not even play at all and just retire.

Something reeks out belmore way. They announce an extension of Haslers tenure & the next day Cronk announces he's moving to Sydney.

We must offer Cronk mega $ (1.2-1.5m) so if we miss out then at least we force the belmore cannibals to have to release a number of quality players for them to b able to fit him under the cap !

The timing had worked out well for the Tigers also...

Can't see the Dogs getting Cronk next year and still have enough money left over for Tedesco and/or Woods..

The chances of the Tigers retaining those two have increased in my view....

Foran would also work - I cant remember a year every where there are more decent halves off contract than decent three quarters.

I think Malony is off to BTW.

We need a half with composure and excels under pressure. Cronk and Foran are really good options. I rate Reynolds but he plays behind a monster pack and plays at a million miles an hour. He was gun when he played alongside Hodkinson because they balanced each other out. If you put Reynolds with Brooks or Moses it will just be erratic mega city extreme.

Cronk would not only lift Brooks game, but Tedesco's as well. Cronk and Slater had a weird telepathic communication that brought the best out of eachother. Cronk could easily mould Tedesco to do the same and develop him as the next Slater. I'm not even joking.

Absolutely.

I'd pay whatever it takes to sign him to 2 year deal.

Then I'd put $400k on a contract, bring Moses and Brooks into my office and say 'one of you will sign today and have the chance to play with and learn off a dally m & premiership winning, international and state of origin halfback for the next 2 years. This will give you experience and benefit to your career beyond what any other club or money could give you. The other one can chase money elsewhere and see where that gets you. This contract is here til 5pm today, if neither of you sign it I'm sure I'll find someone else who will.'

Exactly. I'm sick of this merry go round.

Its an interesting play from both him and the club.

Hes sidelined for 5 or 6 weeks, so makes sense he wants to tie this up.

A bit more than he's worth but not the 800k this club probably would've spent.

I think Reynolds and Moses would be an erratic nightmare, however, I think Brooks (playmaker, re-invent his natural passing game, steady, learn to steer the team around the paddock) and Reynolds (running 5/8, aggresive, niggle, compete on every play, lead the defensive line and set the standard for the line speed, good talker, positive mind-set and body language)...I think that pairing just might work!
