So the club release this statement:

The Parramatta Eels have stood down Corey Norman from the club’s Round 19 game against the Penrith Panthers on Sunday.

Corey today pleaded guilty in a Sydney court to one charge of drug possession and one charge of possessing a restricted substance.

In each matter, Corey has had a conviction recorded and been fined $400; he now has 28 days to lodge any appeal to the sentence.

The club will meet with the NRL this week to review the matter, before Corey meets with the Eels’ disciplinary committee next week.

And Ch9 decide that he's out indefinitely ?

To be fair, you can imply it's indefinite at this stage as we won't have anything definite until the club's disciplinary hearing next week.

Does anyone else think that Corey was involved briefly with some dodgy people who possibly gave him the drugs to carry so if he gets caught they will suggest that they take the fall as long as he owes them one down the track?

I would imagine someone has gotten in his ear and just say he was guilty, cop it and remove any affiliation with those people going forward.

Just a thought anyways.

That's what Ray Donovan would have told him to do anyway.

... Or maybe the dodgy people were hoping his fame might help in a sense that the bouncers might see it and look the other way, cause, famous and all that..

He only got caught because the pills were in a metal container which was picked up when he was scanned at the entrance of the Star nightclub IIRC. If they were in a zip-lock plastic bag none of this would have happened.

Who puts drugs in a metal container? geez...

If he was handed them by someone else, there is also the possibility they gave it to him knowing the container would trip the metal detector and he'd be caught. Why? Who knows..

Isn't it obvious. This was an elaborate plot by Penrith fans, probably Pugsley, to ensure he would be out for this weekends game

That's playing the long game... carefully orchestrating when to get him busted, knowing how it will take to get a court date, so he'd be suspended this exact week.

They deserve the 2 points..

Here's hoping he makes the right call if Semi is found guilty when his case appears before tbe court too.

Yeah is Semi is guilty of a much worse crime then he would have to suspended and fine a lot more than Corey has been, maybe even contract torn up.

Provided he can still get into the EU then he would not give a crap.

Semi deserves his day in court. Hazam & SKD were in the same situation and the charges were eventually dropped or they were found NG. Not saying that Semi is innocent or guilty, however it seems that it's hard to make allegations like these stick.

After all Semi's charges seem to have only been raised when there was a thought by the plaintiff that he was going to piss off overseas and never come back. Semi was not providing for his family at the time. Well that was what the media were alleging anyway. More complex than some have concluded i'm sure.
