If you got a bigger offer elsewhere you wouldn't be in a hurry to re-sign either.
Then take the bigger offer?

Might be weighing up the non-monetary factors. Or hoping the lower offer changes. Then take the bigger offer?
It's not about what they're worth as individuals, it's about what they're worth to us. We have two blokes contracted next year who could play fullback but none who could play as the lead half. Hayne is also worth a lot more as a fullback than as a half.Is $833K the absolute limit on what we can offer players under the administrator? Seriously, Norman and Hayne worth the same? Is this for real?
Half... Fullback... What does the name matter? Surely the value is determined by their influence on the team. And Hayne at fullback is very influential. IMO clearly superior to Norman. Norman's very good but he's not even in the conversation about best ever. And then there's his drug stuff, which is just months ago. Has he changed? Will he get busted again? All this should have an affect on his value. Hayne's a cleanskin and his talent is proven. He's the lower risk. It's not about what they're worth as individuals, it's about what they're worth to us. The Titans, otoh, have a bunch of halves contracted but zero genuine stars. Their fullback options are all a bit ordinary as well, so they should have more to spend.
I'm saying it's the position he plays, not what it's called. Halves get a lot more touches than fullbacks (at least the lead half does), but also has a lot less space than the fullback so there is less opportunity to beat a defender one-on-one.Half... Fullback... What does the name matter?
Agreed, which is why Hayne gets paid more than Norman. But Hayne as the lead half is worth no more than Norman, probably less. And a lead half is what we need, much more than another fullback. Hayne would have made one of our fullbacks already contracted next year redundant. That increases his effective cost to us.Surely the value is determined by their influence on the team. Titans didn't need a fullback, they needed a showpony
That was so close to a good post, then you ruined it.That is one of the most profound statements made on the matter, the NRL are desperate to sell the Tits and need a catalyst for that to happen
They saw an opportunity, and at the same time continue their push against a club they want to punish to show their strength on the cap. Simple from their position
The tin foil hat is never too far away. That was so close to a good post, then you ruined it.
Those are fair points. It might also be due to other factors. And BA also might have got his assessment of their values wrong.I'm saying it's the position he plays, not what it's called. If the figures reported are true, it all comes down to this: we didn't need a $1.2M fullback but the Titans did.
Yeah, the Hayne hype is definitely worth more to them than us.Titans didn't need a fullback, they needed a showpony

DT left open at your hairdresser again? My opinion on Greenburg will not change, if you believe he has no issues then fine
Suggest you read today's articles by Paul K*nt and Dean Ritchie who have views on the incompetency of Greenberg
Strangely enough it is people at clubs other then the Eels that I know who support my view ( not fans but officials)
