It was a classic BA move... and sounds like Lomax is going to make Ryles stick to the promise - at least for the first half of the season until Origin, where Lomax will again be selected on the wing. I reckon it's open slather after that, where Ryles can do whatever he wants to get or keep us winning.

So I'm assuming one of Lomax or Penisini will swap sides, so they can both be our "first choice" centres.

If Lomax is a winger, then maybe he's used to only passing infield... and so a swap to centre on the other side wouldn't be too inconvenient? Unless he can only catch from the one side, and so fumbles every time we try to get the ball to him on the other...

How's that working out for him?

Ryan Matterson insisted that he was a half. Took some convincing but he's figured it out eventually.

Lomax will start in the centres but there's no assurances that he will stay there. From what we have seen of his game, wing is his best position. He'd be one of the top 3 wingers in the game. Is he in the top 3 centres? Not from what I've seen of his play in that position. Maybe his great year on the wing this season will improve his all-round game and he can be a much better centre as well. Who knows.

It's all very exciting though.

Yes, I'd rated Russell as a potential centre chance in the past few years, but he never really stepped up and showed what he might have had when there was a spot there for the taking.

Good to have he and Simonssen there as back-ups or battling to be fourth three-quarter picked.
