You are a staunch advocate for RL, which i do respect.
I think a lot of the criticism , in particular over say the past 10 years, has been warranted. Self inflicted wounds. I also agree that our code cops headlines out of proportion with regard to rivals.
What should happen to Latrell and Josh now ?
Interested on your thoughts.
Your thoughts re the media attacks on our game are yours to have.
IMO there is no doubt that Newscorp in particular have done what they can to discredit our game while turning a blind eye to AFL indiscretions. It's only when it gets so bad, and they can't brush it under the carpet anymore, that the AFL finally have to admit they got it wrong. Sadly, these admissions come far too late. Example: Adam Goodes, the worst example of racism against an Australian sportsperson in living memory.
Re Latrell and Addo-Carr, their actions will be reported as a setback for the NRL's attempt to R2RL.
This perceived setback should provide some relief for those against a May 28 return. Some may even be pleased. But they have been fined, they have apologised. There may be further action from the NRL. That should be the end of it.
My main concern is that the incident may have created a toxic response, based on ignorance. If that was to ever find it's way into crowd behaviour, you can be sure the NRL would nip it in the bud, unlike the AFL.
