Why will the players not want to play in empty stadiums? Do they want to play the season in November and December? That will be a disaster as well.

Surprised to hear they’re against empty stadiums, that would at least keep the TV money flowing.

Although I’m not sure what the provision is with the TV contract, maybe the money is 100% guaranteed for this situation.

If the amount of games doesn’t change probably doesn’t matter

I’m literally looking at the new stadium in Townsville now from my hotel room. f**king heartbreaking for everyone if the game gets shit canned tonight in NQ. I understand all the ramifications and the reasoning behind the control measures required to stop this f**king thing, but it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow this bitter pill.

If the rest of the season gets cancelled, can we call this the ‘GF that everyone wanted’???

might go get some GF shirts made up this morning at the mall......

This is the first I've heard about the players not wanting to play in empty stadiums. Have there been other quotes or articles covering this?

That’s true, but I’m not sure that will be possible. I think we’re looking at several months here. Australia’s problem is it’s picking up steam going into winter. This will make things worse.

If that does happen, we may not be able to start the season until August or September.

I don't know about everyone else but i'm living life as per normal.

I'm a bit of clean freak so nothing too different to me.

Let’s say we couldn’t start until September. Do you play a shortened season or can the whole thing?

You could potentially have everyone play each other once, and maybe modify the rules so whoever is top of the table wins the premiership. I don’t think there’d be enough time for a finals series.

On the plus side for a shortened or postponed season:
1. Great opportunity to trial a shortened season
2. JDB might only miss 1 game this season
3. Smith won't get to increase his games record by as much and will hopefully retire this year
4. Mary will coach less games at the Dragons before his contract expires (unless the spuds extend his contract again)
5. Roosters will have to pay Josh Morris the same amount for less output
6. Bulldogs can do more school visits in a prolonged off season

Split league into two conferences, each team plays eachother once, top of table of each conference plays GF
