And the PM is saying that this is for 6 months. And a 1 in 100 years crisis. Guess he is a hand wringer too.

Gets too bad I got a veggie patch. I'll plant spuds and make vodka. Pretty sure if I keep up a decent blood alcohol level nothin' will get me.

In addition to the legions of idiots out there panicking, most of the restrictions are in response to idiots as well. Idiot-proofing society. Dumbasses flying in from China, Italy, USA etc then socialising, sick people socialising, not self-isolating when you're supposed to etc. As a result a bunch of things that should be fine are now banned, yet things that are dangerous are not.
Example:
Local footy clubs - full of fit 20-40 year olds, unlikely to be affected by the virus let alone die from it - can't even train together, even in regions with 0 confirmed cases!
Aged care facilities - full of unhealthy 80+ year olds susceptible to the virus - only 2 visitors at a time please, if you are sick don't come
Schools - full of developing children susceptible to the virus - open for business, if you are sick don't come.

I don't understand why this 'honesty policy' when it comes to schools and aged care facilities doesn't extend elsewhere. I can't go to training with my mates (20-25 blokes) because morons in Sydney have been spreading the virus. Meanwhile at work I come into contact with pensioners who have been travelling all over the country in caravans.
We'd still be able to go to the footy if we could trust overseas travellers, people supposed to be in isolation, sick people and old people who are susceptible to the virus to not be f**king idiots and stay home. How many cases sprung up overnight in Twonsville, Canberra, Newcastle after their games? But nope, f**king morons will ruin everything and infect everyone so we can;t do that.

You can't go to public events and places and a lot of businesses and people are gonna suffer financially because of morons spreading the virus, and we can't get food and essential supplies because of morons hoarding and panic buying. It certainly is The Idiot Apocalypse.

These online services including Foxtel and Netflix should be free for everyone for a month so we can ride out this crisis. It also helps to keep people at home. Expecting such a common sense thing to do out of corporations as big as that is like shitting in one hand and holding out the other seeing which one fills first.

Netflix has 167 million subscribers. If each of them are paying $10 a month like I am then if they give it away for free it will cost Netflix $1.67 billion a month.

What was wrong with what he said? Sure he doesn’t like Mensa, but he has a point in where the NRL should have back up funds incase stuff like this happens. He is pretty much just reiterating what most people have said in this thread

As has been mentioned many times, these measures are to prevent the spread. A person is infectious even before showing symptoms. The mortality rate is about 1%, but these measures are to slow the rate of outbreak to ease pressure on the healthcare system. Without it, hospitals become over run and the mortality rate for other emergencies skyrocket.

So your suggestion is to just ban any visitors? I guess these people don't have family members that may want to see how they are doing.

Schools should be closed but children are NOT susceptible to the virus. Children's rate of infection are the lowest, and they rarely show symptoms. The problem is that children can spread it without the warning signs.

People who contract this virus are infectious 5-14 days before showing symptoms. This is why you simply can't just do the 'honesty' policy - people are infectious before they even know they are sick. Most workplaces have stopped non-essential travel and many have pushed as many staff as they can to work from home.

Most that have spread the virus are not morons. There have been many cases where they weren't eligible to be tested. If this was just simply morons spreading it - it wouldn't be the global issue that it is.

This is true though. No reason to hoard. Australia produces enough food for a population of 75 Million. Yet people are hoarding as if the supermarkets will close for 6 months.

How do you want them to get home from the airport though? They've been ushered back to the country and it's not like you can pick up a mask from the airport.
NSW government advised you can travel by public transport directly to your accommodation where you'll need to isolate.
Yes, I get there are taxi's but that also carries an element of risk

As someone who would have earned a lot of money in his last few years maybe he should be reviewing his own use of his salary? Players, clubs and commission all need to carry some shared blame for the financial situation of the nrl.

When talentless hacks like Ben Hunt and Ash Taylor are getting a cool one mill per season do you really blame players that are 3x more talented wanting more money? it’s a flow on effect from bad management all way around.

And it’s not like as if someone on 500k PA is going to be spending their salary like someone does on 50k a year anyway.
