Oh ffs don't turn this into a race thing when the two players I praised as having the elite football IQ are both nonwhite. And one of them is even a kiwi. And someone like Dave Taylor is a freak athlete but a dumb footballer, and he's white.

Race has nothing at all to do with what I was saying and you bringing race into it is just proof that you don't have a legitimate argument.
Why don't you answer the question...

How did you form a low opinion of this kids "Footballing IQ" based on that video??

Because the vast majority of people have crap football iq. And those that have gotten through juniors by being 20 kg bigger than everyone else have almost certainly never had to develop their football iq.

Okay... So what your saying is that you think he's a dumb footballer based on the fact that he's a big guy....

Well I apologise BM... You obviously don't judge people's intelligence on race...

You base it on weight...

Jesus Christ.

I've read some BM rabble before, but f**k me, being bigger = low football IQ? I think it takes the cake. I use to play with a bloke who had the body structure of Toka Likiliki but he had better vision than the f**king halfback.

People really shouldn't attempt to engage Lookatmeman in rational debate. It just encourages him.

He's just a kid and may never kick on at the higher levels in either code but he DOES look very fast for a chap of his carriage. Impressive acceleration.

^we're not talking about your undercarriage, which we're sure isn't vast, and we definitely don't want to see....

People are excited by the fact that he's 135Kgs and moves very well...

There's potential there... The question I asked in this thread is around whether a RL club consider taking him.

His success in RU will be based on how good he is in the set piece.. Ie scrummaging. If he doesn't have the technique to be an effective scrummager... His running game won't even be considered.

If that was the case I think he could be more suited to a sport like RL.

Fair enough. And good points on the scrummaging etc, which I wouldn't have the foggiest about but a guy who is keen as he is on the loose stuff probably hasn't honed his craft as far as set piece is concerned.

I hate doing this but DunniesMan has a (very slight) point, albeit articulated in his usual ungainly style (being kind).

A classic example is Sam Lousi, who absolutely killed it through age groups but has played 2 NRL matches in two years and doesn't look close to making it 3 any time soon. Guys like him, Dave Taylor, probably T-Rex etc may well have had it their own way in juniors, not had to develop the necessary skills and mental application to take on bigger blokes and have proven they don't have it in them to shape up consistently.

Difference between this kid and Sam Lousi from what I can see though is speed. Sam is huge, but he's always looked ponderous. There are plenty of huge guys who dominate as you say but their lack of speed/agility is generally their undoing. Its the fact that this kid is 135kg and still has a good turn of pace for a forward that indicates he might be something a bit more special than your usual big kid who steamrolls everybody.

Yep, they're definitely different - the better comparison is probably Dave Taylor or another player I can't think of right now. This guy probably has a yard on ol' lazy lump (and five less kids) but they're both quicker than your average big man, with decent ball skills and agility.

To me, Dave Taylor probably had years of being completely dominant then when he was getting shunted around, didn't have the mental conditioning to put up with it. Lack of work ethic probably goes hand-in-hand for a big guy who didn't have to be fit or build himself up to be a stand-out

There's a name that has been repeating through my head and I can't remember it...Sharks signed him most recently and he was meant to be the next SBW but now he's nowhere. Anyone? And where is he now
