the same as a piece of string
He thinks he will be offered a contract and if that’s what Zapps and Ricky has told him or his manager then they should stick by their word

From The Leader.
Sharks chief executive Tony Zappia said he was trying his best to sort out Covell's future at the club. "It is a difficult situation which we are trying to resolve", Zappia said yesterday.

Thats all it says in regard.

I'd be giving Kingston the flick. Resign Seu Seu at $60k. There you have some more money to resign Covell, IF, money is truely the issue.

Sign the man for life and give him a run in the centres if we arent buying any backs. Then let the younger faster guys fight it out for the remaining wing spot, as I'm guessing Simmo will be on one wing.
Bingo!

He's fairly versatile, having played quite a few games at Centre, Lock, Second Row and even a few at five eighth in lower grades.

I'd have him in the centres straight away, put some speedy bastard out wide of him. Covell has the ability to draw two defenders. He's also very strong, meaning it usually takes two defenders to get him down, which will create chances outside him.

If they can get Covell cheap enough, they will keep him. If not, goodbye and good luck.

Dont forget that Ricky is working to a long term plan. A certain amount of churn will have to occur to see that plan come to fruition.
That long term plan involves, premierships, success, Feleeeeeeeega and other things. Although KF is a forgotten man at the moment, expect to see him play a big role at the Sharks in the coming years.

I like the Cov, and so does Ricky (he has publicly stated that with 'a few yards' more pace he would be a SOO player) but Ricky has his sights a long way down the track, and he might just be necessary collateral damage.

Also in the Leader today is says the club has told Misi that he wont be offered a contract so Thommo, his manager, is scouting UK clubs and rugby Union.

Shame, I like Misi. But he is a bit limited I guess and has those big mistakes in his game. Good luck to him.

Unfortunate for Misi. No doubt someone will pick him up thou. I can see him being let go with Stephenson, Cooper and Peek to not just accomodate Covell, but also have a little breathing space under the cap. RLW stated Millington was off contract this season too but im almost certain he signed on for 2 years last year..

I doubt Ricky would get rid of Covell. He's getting older and not quicker, so maybe Ricky should consider moving Covell to the centres for next season.

My guess he will go . If we are not keeping Misi maybe Covell will be chopped as well. Mitch Brown and Simmo on the wings and money saved . It might be as simple as that. I dont like it either but that might be the reality.

Spider, Not sure how to quote a quote, anyway.

I read in the leader Ferguson and Orcher have resigned.

Misi had been told he won't be signed also it said that Covell will leave to. Despite it going on to say the sharks were trying to get the finances to make him a decent offer?

What I am saying about the defense is by Covell leaving, our defense MIGHT be hopeless on the left hand side, with Pommeroy there and someone else?

In regards to us not playing to his' strengths I am saying that he is really good in the air and if quality kicks go through he can score, and that maybe it wouldn't matter HUGELY if there was a quick winger there if they rarely get the ball from Pommeroy anyway.

Anyway, I have always thought they have needed more pace, but now the time has come to potentialy loose Covell I'd prefer to loose Misi and even Paris before Covell?

Kearney needs to know where his outside men are imo. Simmo could have put a pass through the hands twice also on the weekend as we had a massive overlap.

Watch the last ten minutes of the souths game, four bombed tries... in hindsight.

To those saying there is no cap problems consider this.

newman, who's info I trust, has stated that Feeeeleeeeeggga will be a part of the long term plans

The cash dollars he signed on for haven't kicked in yet but will do when he becomes a regular first grader. Those bucks have to be accounted for in any future cap decisions.

There's also probably players already on tiered payments.

I'd say we are under the cap NOW but have the potential to blow it and that's why money is always mentioned when talk of Cov comes about.

Exactly right. And right now the situation stands at; If we can get the Cov cheap enough, he will stay. If not, sadly it is time to say goodbye.

The negotiation on price hasnt even happened yet so nobody knows what the outcome is going to be.

Poor old Misi. He hasnt had any job security with the Sharks from day 1.
Wonder if some of his bad performances could be put down to the pressure involved with playing for your future every single 1st grade start.
