One of my biggest concerns is that Morrison is not a leader and not up to getting the decisions right and the timeline for implementing them right ...with this Virus ..Look at Arden in NZ ... Morrison to me is Really just a “happy” Christian (who unfortunately believe that nothing is too big a problem that god can’t solve it ) with a big mouth and bigger ego. But not a leader. He’s proved this when he backflipped on going to the Cronulla game this weekend with ...“due to the possibility it would be misrepresented if he did.” ...Geez

I think that this is extremely naive. I'll explain the difference. This is significantly more contagious. It's nowhere near as bad as those viruses. SAR's and MER's had a much higher mortality rate but the absolute numbers of deaths and illnesses due to COVID-19 will be significantly higher.

I worry when I hear comments like yours. I don't think people understand the situation that could develop here.

I'm hopeful that this is not a catastrophic event. I don't think it will be. I also think that we should be taking all precautions and I don't think we've done that yet.

Exactly. The attitude of it's all okay and it's just a cold is what causes this thing to become a critical problem. Deal with it now and hopefully we don't get it that bad.

I'm also completely against the panic buying. That is completely missing the point. We need to be practicing social distancing not going to the shops and trying to bulk buy stuff that you won't use.

People who dont think this is a big deal need to listen to the medical experts who are warning the world about what could happen. Italy has been caught with their pants down and now medical staff are having to make heartbreaking decisions on who to treat and who cant be helped due to lack of resources. They are literally deciding who lives and who dies at their emergency centers.
We all need to hibernate until this passes as this virus is at least 20 times more potent than the seasonal flu..which kills 665 000 people on average per year worldwide. This thing may mutate and effect even more people.... If it could affect people we know..i.e. grandparents, parents or those already sick then surely a small sacrifice for half a year or so isnt too big of an ask? At the end of the day whether the NRL goes ahead or not is at the bottom of the list of priorities. It doesnt matter.

I'll give an example of dangerous intellectual laziness that is currently being spread by the "she'll be righters"out there...it keeps being said "it's only the older people with illnesses such as asthma...respiratory and heart issues that die.."only?".i happen to have all three...so you Indiana Jones fu kers out there...i'm one of those many million in the crosshairs and we catch it from wilfully reckless "non endangered" folk deciding to spread it and their view of a more convenient reality anywhere their toughnous so chooses...."only the???"....so we're expendable ? How many know this virus survives on surfaces FROM!!! a few hours to 2 to 3 DAYS!!! and most people spreading it all over surfaces in public places RIGHT NOW dont even know they have it yet...it lasts as long on stainless steel as anything....while you're bounding up the middle of the stairs who do you think HAS TO use those stainless steel handrails? A week ago just prior to being admitted to hospital where i still am i had a classic " Real aussies drive uter's" say to me....(quote) "if i get it then sorry but i'll be spread'n it around as I've gotta keep work'n" this guy is an example of the stupidity that exists out there in that "always have to talk too loud...arms folded across the chest...legs apart because their balls are just so big" boofhead culture that just refuses to fu ken grow up and he picked the wrong fkn day to come out with that comment.

The government will almost certainly have to enter the money markets to ease the effect of bad debt and upscale social services.

So it’s not going to be able to break even.

In addition to larger scale relief, government will have its hands full with demands for cash etc from much worthier causes such as medicine, education, food, shelter and so forth.

Would the equivalent be if a Woolworths worker in Melbourne had it the all Woolworths shops must close. If a bus driver gets it then all buses must stop running. However if a politician gets it its business as usual.
