Too much player power up there eg getting murray sacked etc.

Thurston might be a top player but he doesnt sound like the greatest of guys to have around a team

wow, I don't think you could bring up a more irrelevant comment on this 'story'. Well done.........................

Agreed. I'm sure we've all heard about Thurston's wandering eye.....

The inmates have been running the asylum in Townsville for a long time...

What the f**k does Thurston have to do with two other team mates getting in a scuffle at their home? How does any of this story relate to "player power" and how Murray was sacked?
It relates to things not being right at the cowboys, when the players (whose captain and best player is Thurston, which leads you to believe he is probably the head honcho) have so much power up there. They got Murray sacked and insisted on Henry being made head coach, then when things were faltering again this season there was alot of rumours of a fallout between Thurston and Henry, once again seeing the Cowboys playing sh*t. The club as a whole seem like a bunch of sooky la la's who have far to much control over precedings, and with Thurston the main man up there leads you to believe he isnt the greatest guy to have in a team environment.

So once again.......what does anything you just typed (which you said yourself is only rumours) have to do with two best mates having a blue in their own home?? with neither of those players being J Thurston.

You're fishing for something thats not there mate.

Charlie, when you have someone like JT playing for the team there's going to be jealousy.

Bobby, considering you support the Canberra Raiders I doubt you have any audacity to speak about player's misbehaving when on the drink.
Wandering eye LOL, oh really well stamp his release papers now.
Better go buy the next issue of Women's Weekly then.

What did JT have to do with that article? Oh that's right, nothing.

Just another lame attempt to bag out a QLD club.

Good clubs are disciplined clubs, compare say the dragons this year to the chooks, one was chaotic off the field and it showed on it, one was very well behaved off the field and it showed on it. The Cowboys players seem to have to much power up there, and it seems obvious that discipline is therefore not as high. Thurston as captain appears to be a leader in this department, and a team that doesnt have as good discipline has incidents like this off the field, and is rarely successful on field, as we have seen with FNQ missing the 8 the last two seasons despite a pretty good side.

The cowpats did better under Henry this year than under the shanmbles of 08. Haven't got near the success that Murrray achieved though. Next year will be the teller. Henry has the talent to be top 4. If the cowpats don't make it next year, they can be classed as a serious failure club aka the Gold Coast pre Titans, or Parra in the immediate post Price/Cronin years.

they were 3 points out of the 8, whilst I was disappointed, it was a massive improvement on last year. Their defence wasn't their major problem this year, their attack was woeful however.

Take out Tonga and Thurston out the backline that finished the season, and not one player would make any other teams first grade side.

Beave you do realise that only 2 other clubs scored more points than us.

a few blow out games for us here and there made our attack look far superior than what it really was. Our backline is rubbish pure and simple. IMO our attack put us under more pressure at times due to absolute stupidity with the ball, the last few games they switched off in defense deluxe at times, but it improved out of sight compared to the year before.

558: North Queensland, Wests
566: Souths
575: Canterbury

as opposed to

549: Manly
548: Saints
514: Gold Coast
511: Brisbane
508: Newcastle
505: Melbourne
476: Parra

Goes to show points for doesn't equal big games.

NQ can always score points, and their defence has been crap for a while, but under Henry it seems to have improved.

Points against:
2009: 474 (7th), diff +84 (5th)
2008: 638 (14th), diff -164 (14th)
2007: 618 (14th), diff -71 (11th)
2006: 463 (equal 3rd), diff -13 (9th)
2005: 563 (8th), diff +76 (6th)

What about Bowen, Canard. =P

This has little do with Thurston and the Cowboys management.

Of course if he was fit, but he didn't finish the season in our backline, and won't be back til mid season next year at the earliest.
