Broncos may lose Frawley: Cullen

Wednesday July 21, 2004
Broncos winger Craig Frawley is likely to be wearing a Canberra jumper in 2005, with Brisbane boss Bruno Cullen admitting the club could not come close to matching the Raiders offer.
Frawley and his manager met with Raiders management on Tuesday to discuss a possible move to the national capital, with coach Matthew Elliott desperate to find a replacement for Roosters-bound flanker Joel Monaghan.
The signature of Frawley would also help Canberra reverse a disturbing trend away from the club, which has seen stars Monaghan (Roosters), Ruben Wiki (Warriors) and Luke Davico (England) all agree to terms with other clubs for next season.
The loss of Frawley would compound the problems facing Brisbane following the announcement international three-quarter Michael De Vere would head to England in 2005.
The big 23-year-old has been in superb form since finding his feet at the top level early in the season after several injury-plagued years limited his chances to gain a spot in the Broncos top side early in his career.
I havent spoken to Craig for a couple of days so I cant comment too much, Mr Cullen said.
What I do know is that he met with Canberra on Tuesday and to be honest I am a little concerned because he has a very good offer from them and there is no way we can match it.
On a more positive note, Mr Cullen said star attacking weapons Karmichael Hunt and Darren Lockyer had agreed to terms with the club with the official announcements regarding the deals to be formalised later this week. Hunt has agreed to a two-year deal with the club, while Lockyer will sign a five-year deal the longest ever contract in Broncos history.
Hooker Michael Ryan and captain Gorden Tallis are the remaining pieces to Brisbanes 2005 list, with Ryan to meet with the club in the coming days.
