St George Illawarra Dragons Head Coach Steve Price admits the team made many ‘uncharacteristic errors’ in the 30-4 loss to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Saturday.

The Dragons found solace in fullback Kyle Stanley’s first-half try but ultimately conceded five tries and several penalty infringements en route to the defeat.



“It wasn’t one of our better performances put it that way,” said Price.

“We made some uncharacteristic errors that aren’t up to the Dragons standard game.

“Through the trials and last week against Newcastle we were outstanding but three penalties surrounding the play the ball is disappointing.

“We can’t blame the referees as they have a job to do but instead only look at ourselves.

I think the Bulldogs played very well, they ran with intent and with purpose and we were outplayed tonight.

“We dished out a poor performance tonight but will return to training on Tuesday and start preparing for the Tigers next Friday.

Dragons captain Ben Hornby offered a similar account to the goings-on of the game and believes he and his teammates were ‘simply outplayed’ on the night.

“At the end of the day the penalties didn’t lose us the game, we were simply outplayed,” said Hornby.

“We have to fix that before we start complaining about the decisions out there.

“We were under the pump all night and they were good enough to capitalise off it.”

My contribution is simple. We have bought some good players but have stuck to the old pairings and pushed ahead with the Kyle experiment (Kyle stanley is not a fullback IMO but out and out 5/8).
Please bring Kyle to 5/8, Sowie to half, Daniel Vidot into the centres( Raiders fans rate Vidot highly and he looked smooth in the Souths game.
The top fullbacks have blistering speed ie Slater, Stewart etc.They need to have that speed to run wide angles but not lose ground or hit the whole and zoom to the line. Please give Cummins or Kemp the opportunity.Both are very fast and remember that Brett Stewart is not big, rated at 85 kgs I understand.

What about the back 3 of Goodwin, Nighty and Morris, cente Vidot, Hornby wasnt crook in defense last year so revert to where Bennett had him. Drop Fien , Young. Kyle on the bench (same as last year) with King Merrin and one more large forward (Hunt?).

Personally I don't rate Goodwin as a full time fullback. Good depth to fill in here and there but not regularly first grader

Hornby made one of our very few clean line breaks last night.
Granted he shouldn't be defending out in the centres, but geez we were missing Coops and had a rookie in Green making his debut.
The whole game should be forgotten - move on to next week.
We got dusted by the Sharks in round 2 last year and recovered to go on a long winning streak.

KING is gone. Forget him. It's too late....we farked that one up already. That team above is average. Sorry but true. Stanley at centre, stanley at fullback are a big weakness. Scott cant cover cente anymore so we are exposed there. That bench is aweful.

Lol, King is gone. He has talked to Uncle Wayne and been told how bad we have treated him and will refuse to resign for us now.

Just on the Weyman on report incident.....was that the hit he put on Corey Payne after getting pushed over at marker? I noticed Payne stayed down to wait for the video ref to have a look.....maybe my tv was fuzzy, but it looked like Weyman's arm was wrapped around Payne upper arm when he hit him. Did I miss something? Did he he hit him around the jaw first?
