Appropriate thread because this whole issue was total crap:

Spinner Matthew Kuhnemann's bowling action has been given the all-clear after an independent assessment found it to be within the laws of the game.

Kuhnemann's action was reported by match officials during the second Test in Sri Lanka two weeks ago, clouding his immediate future at both international and domestic level.

However, after having his technique scrutinised at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, with a member of the ICC's panel of human movement specialists on deck to help determine the legitimacy of the action, Kuhnemann was given the green light to continue playing and bowling on Wednesday night (AEDT).

Just on Chappelli, I know we ridicule him, but the guy has been a writer/commentator all my life. There is some sadness knowing that era is coming to a close with everyone now old and retired, and sadly, beginning to pass away. All those summers sat listening to ch 9 and the Twelfth Man’s pisstakes are now fond memories of my youth.
Still. A horse blankets out for Chaps?

The England and Wales Cricket Board has apologised for a social media post joking that Pope Francis "loves the Ashes".

A message on the X account of the 88-year-old Pope, who has been in hospital since February, was posted to mark Ash Wednesday.

In response, the England Cricket account wrote: "Even @Pontifex loves The Ashes". The post has since been deleted.

An ECB spokesperson said: "This was an ill-judged post and was swiftly deleted. We apologise for any offence."

On Wednesday, the account of Pope Francis posted: "The Ashes remind us of who we are, which does us good.
"It puts us in our place, smooths out the rough edges of our narcissism, brings us back to reality, and makes us more humble and open to one another. None of us is God; we are all on a journey."
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the 40-day period in which Christians prepare for Easter.

he doesn't often hit 150 any more... interesting though, I'd be interested in how the top women's bats fare against men's bowling (not just express pace) - the best have terrific techniques, I know they'd struggle but maybe could put up a fight in batting friendly conditions - in contrast their bowlers, well, that would be ugly really quickly

I think the best female spinners would go ok. Turn is turn. But yeah, the seamers would get murdered. I faced a few young state-level bowlers as a second grader in my mid-30s and I found it tough to score at times but I was comfortable. And that's not intended as a rap on me by any means...

The batting is an interesting question. Really pace just requires reaction and confidence in your technique and your game. They'd absolutely struggle when thrown in but there's no real difference in ability to react. I think there's a huge difference in the level and quality of coaching etc growing up that would count a lot out, but I'd wager someone like Meg Lanning or Ellyse Perry would cope with time.

A mates brother played against Alyssa Healy in grade cricket in the junior ranks might have been under 14s.

He got out to her and has never lived it down haha.

At my son’s school and junior grade club, two years ago, he and his female team mate (he 13/14 she 15/16 were pacy for the age but she was a little more quick ish and he probably less accurate). Two years later he and the boys are not allowed to bowl to her and she’s like a medium pacer to the boys. It’s amazing how some growth, hormones, weights and fitness plus training just changed him.
That said, she’s f**king quick for the girls.
