Cricket and league stuff, Ged Stokes, bit of a league legend in NZ and the UK, and Ben's old man passed away ... cancer's a bastard - hope to see more of Ben's three finger salute tribute soon :(

65 way to young :(

Also the quality of life leading up to his death would have been terrible

Pain free now, RIP Ged

Getting rid of the short ball is a very dumb idea.

I'd be ok with introducing a limit per over a la limited overs cricket, as a compromise. But the game is already skewed heavily in favour of batsmen...if they can pretty much just front dog it all day it'll go even further that way. Especially on flat decks

More blokes are getting hit in the head cause of the comfort they have of the helmet, rather than watching the ball. Considering most of the decks played on these days are roads

Unless the deck is a minefield, in which case abandon the game, keep the bouncer for mine

I be be half ok without the bouncer as long as every deck, every part of the world is a green top /sarcasm

Isn’t that the reasoning behind the design of those helmets Michael Carberry n Broad wore years ago... to help deflect a ball / reduce “impact”..?

I thought when I first saw it that it’d become more common but rather - it’s pretty much disappeared.

I’m sure if Pucovski was wearing one of these the other day, he’d have come away far better..

Not a good start to the year for Gangles

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...r-suspected-heart-attack-20210102-p56rct.html

The president of the Indian cricket board Sourav Ganguly has been taken to hospital in Kolkata after a mild heart attack.

Indian media is reporting Ganguly, who led India from 2000-05, was admitted to hospital after complaining of chest pain while working out on Saturday morning. He is reportedly in a stable condition.

There are reports he needs an angioplasty, a procedure which widens the arteries to restore blood flow.

The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Jay Shah, provided an update on Twitter.

"I wish and pray for the speedy recovery of @SGanguly99. I’ve spoken to his family. Dada is stable and is responding well to the treatment," Shah wrote.

The official Twitter account of the International Cricket Council said Ganguly had suffered a "mild cardiac arrest".

watched him bowl to the Pakis a bit, he's an interesting project

seems to me like he needs a bowling coach to get some rhythm into his approach, he seems to have a nice approach then slows down and goes into his bowling action with reduced momentum from his run up

he does bowl tall tho and is a hit the pitch type bowler, bowls from wide of the crease and angles into the batsman, gets a fair amount of bounce from his height which makes him hard to score off

An important, 50 year anniversary has just passed.

5/1/1971, Australia played England in the first One Day International in Melbourne.

Australia won by 5 wickets.
