Kearney was announced as Eels coach about a month after the Wallabies played in South Africa, which is when Osborne stated he was going to sign him.

Obviously Anderson was already on his way out then and of course he wouldn't have been consulted on recruitment.

But that doesn't mean he wasn't responsible for recruitment/retention earlier than that.

What kind of coach would join a club where he doesn't have a say in recruitment, besides a shit one?
