Cronulla - Foldy McFold Fold?

theres alot of "facts" and "proof" going on here

its apparent that the current board has decided to take a step back on the development on the advise of previous group CEO whos name i cant remember. to say it "wont bring as much money in as they thought" may or may not be correct. however, abandoning the venture outright is not the smart business move either.

the development has to be re examined and ammended however it is not off the table.
at this present time the sharks are not able to fund the development, however belt tightening measures,as well as an increase of football club memberships, season ticket holders and the signing of new corporate sponsors to our club is a sign that perhaps the sharks can infact turn the corner.

in regards to relocation, adelaide would be a foolish move. the central coast is proposing its own bid and central qld/sunshine coast or whatever should have its own team but not at the expense of an existing one.

having said that if the club falls over, it shouldnt be bailed out. the sharks have to work hard and turn things around.

but all this negative press and what not certainly dosnt help.

in regards to onfield prformance. the club has many young and inexperienced players, as well as fringe first grade players as that is who we are able to afford at this point.

Most worried should be the Bears. Only viable relocation is to CC for the $7mill NRL offer and I'm confident the NRL would rather that than the new CC Bears (mind you that is also a big worry for us)

Until the receivers call the debts in though the Sharks will just keep bouncing along the bottom hoping one day thinsg will turn around. NRL won't cut them until they have no choice and that will only happen when the club is declared bust.

The Bears won't be worried. The NRL met with them last year remember to make sure in the event the Sharks folded that the Bears were ready to take their place.

The Bears have too much involvement on the CC for them to now be dropped for the Sharks. The NRL wouldn't risk the backlash, especially after the manly debarcle. I think the relocation money is off the table for the CC now.

I'm not so sure the NRL would give the Sharks the $7m if they asked for it anyway. Their debts exceed $12m (we don't know by how much). $7m would be wasted on the Sharks unless they had a really good relocation plan (ie new leagues club and stadium, sponsors).

For relocation to work its as Biker Dragon said, they will need a fire sale of assets to clear debt and a clean start. Places where they could do this are Adelaide, Wellington, Sunshine Coast, maybe Perth. But in each case they would need to merge with the existing bid team.

The can of worms that would open if they tried to rob the Bears again would be massive. News Limited would not want that to happen.

Cronulla Sharks should be kicked out of the comp simply for being the most boring team to watch of all time.
Parramatta should be kicked out of the comp because of the overhyped Jarrod Hayne....

See, I can make stupid statements too..........

I always find it amusing that it's St.George supporters that are the most passionate about getting rid of the Sharks.

Would a merger with the Perth Reds be a possibilty, the Perth Sharks. They would have a Sydney fan base, play 1 or 2 games a year at shark park.

And like the Brisbane Lions, old Fitzroy supporters would rather cheer on Brisbane then no one.

Also a merger with a team like Perth means there is a new 'dot on the map' for TV and no real rivalry between the clubs.

This is of course if the sharks can no longer be viable as a Sydney club.

As much as I'd like to see them survive, surely they have to be considering Adelaide?

Now that would be a one of a few ways out for the Sharks and is a better option of staying in the Shire and being starved to Death.

Yeas - 7k crowds and triple the travelling bill would really help!

The crowds at home games in the Shire are not much better than that at the moment and with them getting hammered week after week, crowds will just get smaller. So with crowds of 7k in Adelaide straight off, that's not a bad starting block.

As for the bill of relocating sell up the swamp land the leagues club as well as the footy field and negotiate a decent relocation deal from the NRL. Then i'd say the Sharks will be around for a long time to come.

I want to see the Sharks stay in the game.....but i just don't see how they can in 2010 staying in the Shire. Feej 1967 was a lifetime ago and things have changed big time.

I'd rather sit and watch cronulla be boring and fail to win a game then to sit and watch parramatta and that over hyped idiot hayne play.

cronulla are more entertaining then parra anyway

Oh what a tease, we have all heard this way to many times and yet they are still here, these pathetic leeching losers. I'm afraid that they are just going to limp along till the next TV deal and then just tread water for the rest of time at the expense of another region that would be infinitely more worthy.

They are a joke though and if we can all collectively pray maybe something real catastrophic can happen to them before the next TV deal, which will boot their arse to the curb before they get the chance to become a perpetual sponge on the game that will never ever amount to much other then be a deadbeat club that hardly anyone gives a damn about except for a few thousand local supporters.
