dunno why you are having a crack at me.

tell your story to someone who gives a fug about the bears.

I follow the Sharks.
I am a life member of the leagues club and a season ticket holder.
I will see them play again next year.

You asked jokingly how the bears were going and i answered you seriously. Now you don't like the answers? You shouldnt have poked fun then and I wouldn't have replied using logic. That's the thing though more people give a fug about the bears than they do the sharks. Hence all your clubs problems, hence all
of my clubs positives. It's peoples attitudes like your own that took the sharks to their dilemmas. Always we have this or we have that... Once the sharks club acknowledges that they don't have sh*t then they can start rebuilding quicker and better.

I responded to you're original smartarse post .
I made no mention of the bears until then.

You bought it on yourself.

Don't like the fact that I don't give a fug about the Bears?

That is bit of bad luck then.

How was it a smartarse post when it's true? Cronulla's problem has never been about the players and has always been about mismanagement. You said they have a new board. I say that doesn't mean skittles because they'll repeat the same mistakes. You say you don't give a fug about the Bears. I say good.. because heaps of people do.

I could care less if you like them or not. To each their own. I'm just saying a larger majority do. I didn't bring nothing on myself. Im very happy with the bid and the way everything is panning out. Couldn't be better if i wrote the script myself.

I grew up in the Shire and genuinely feel sorry for the Sharks and I don't death-ride them.

I value the rivalry the Dragons have with them and think it would be a shame for them to fold.

What pisses me off though is when I see all these Sharkies smokers watching the game on TV at Northies with their big hair and tight t-shirts when the game is literally down the road.

I'm presuming most people reading on these boards are fairly die hard RL fans, and would probably go to the game anyway, but Sharkies fans here should be getting up their "fair-weather" Sharkies mates to get to the game.

Go to the game and get your mates to the game or you will lose your team.

I don't want the sharks to get culled either but they need to be proactive and thinking outside the box. I'll support their decisions if it contributes to the game and keeps the Sharks self sustainable for a decent amount of time. However if they are going to do nothing like they have been for a few a while now and not add to the game then I think that's not good and with opportunities else where then the game has to move forward without them. I've always thought that the NRL needs the Sharks brand however they doesn't necessarily need Cronulla.

how can you say they have done nothing?

come back when know one single iota about the club.

Total new board......new sponsor.....new coach......
You said they had no members ...and yet I had to point out they had the fourth best membership drive for this year.
They have cut costs like no other club in history.
If they hadn't the club would be gone already.
not too bad for a club arse fugged by every single news channel and newspaper in the country 12 months ago.
The club had to sack 3 of it's best players because of the fuggen media.

All this fussin and a fighten from sharks and bears fans. Can't you see the light? A bears and Sharks merger solves all problems.

I have mates who call themselves sharks 'fans' but they only ever go to the game if they score free tickets. They all live within 5 mins from the ground...

Unless things improve dramatically on and off the field over the next 24 months, I don't see a future for the sharks.

1. Bears already got screwed once in a merger.

2. What would the Sharks offer? Apart from debt. Especially with the Bears seemingly on the verge of finally rejoining the league (10 years late) what's in it for them.

I suppose I should have added a few of these :sarcasm: to indicate sarcasm.

Merging as in sharks players go to the CC, and play for the bears. That would be the extent of the 'merger'.

The one shark fan I know is supposedly crazy about them. When I ask him if he has a membership, he goes "No, why should I". The smaller clubs in Sydney need to give every last fan a reason to join them. Sharks aren't doing a very good job of it.

Their packages aren't even out yet while the Dragons and Rabbitohs already have almost as many members as the Sharks had in total this year. When you're behind in the first place how can you possibly afford to give your competition a headstart.

The problems aren't just on the field. I think they're being poorly managed. Other clubs can have membership/merchandise success without current success on the field *cough*souths*cough*, they could too if they were run the right way.

The suggestion of the Sharks relocating needs to be thought out a bit more IMO.

Are the Sharks doing poorly because of being in Cronulla or are they doing poorly because of mismanagement?

And if its mismanagement, what would relocating that management achieve?

I think it's a case of "a little from column A, a little from column B". While I do think they are poorly managed (memberships not on sale yet etc) that's a short term problem. Management can be changed.

Their location is the biggest problem. Being in an over crowded market can't help. They have 1 of the biggest clubs (Dragons) basically surrounding their territory. Add to that Souths and the Roosters being nearby and an island in the middle of the shire isn't enough to sustain a club. Every other team has a significant chunk of the city, except them.

The last time I was down there I saw a lot of Dragons jerseys, some Souths and Roosters and even a Bulldogs jersey but not a single Sharks jersey. And the fans they do have can't be bothered buying membership because of onfield/management issues.

Seeing as it seems a Perth team will join the league alongside the Bears in 2013, I think their best shot at relocation is Adelaide. They'll get the advantage of being a one city team. Plus NRL cash for relocation and NRL cash for being in a development region etc should help with their debt and their long term stability.

Without trying to be a hater, I don't see a long term future for them in Sydney.

all this talk of sharks fans not going to games by bunnies and Dragons fans is pretty funny.

Tell me where all the people that marched down the street in sydney are during bunnies games.
100 thousand rampant bunnies fans demanding they get re-instated

Tell me where all the people that were at the GF are at Dragons games??

Dragons with 2 teams to pull crowds from couldn't sell out a home semi final.

How does your crowd numbers go when it pisses down every bloody game?

Plenty of the old dinosaurs who watch on tele boys...it aint just Sharks fans.

BTW...I go to every home game I can...the only ones I missed this year were when I was out of the country...and they fuggen won every one of them.

I only saw them win ( live ) one game...against the Titans...yes welcome home bird, and rat.

The Sharks would offer an NRL licence. Something that the Bears don't have.
