I'm willing to go out and rubbish this suggestion. We will be looking at 75k plus for this game. It will be Souths biggest game in 20+ years, dogs had at least 30k against manly and would pull at least an extra 10k next week for a prelim final. We could be looking at a sell out tbh.

The part in bold alone will be the reason why it will eclipse the 74k the Eels/Bulldogs match got in 2009. All the Souffs fans who have been too lazy or nonchalant to go to a game since they were readmitted to the competition will flock to the game in a heartbeat. How close it goes to 83k will depend on how many ANZ Stadium members turn up, but all general public tickets will sell out. It will be Souffs biggest game since the 1989 PF and this year will be their best chance in a long time to taste premiership glory

Nope.

You'll never get a non-gf game in Sydney pull more than 60k if Parramatta aren't involved.

Admittedly Eels fans are more fairweather than most, and disappear at the drop of a hat, but they are the most supported club.

the 74k qualifying final in 09 had around 50k Eels fans, and 25k doggies fans.

And that's where we will end up, doggies can't bring much more than 25k fans, souffs can't bring much more than 25k fans, maybe 10k extra souffs fans because it will be their first gf qualifying game since unlimited tackles.

Their final will top out around at around 60k.

Ahhh Parramatta, our geniused twin brother whose still defiling wooden spoons while we give an extra shine to our many premierships

Were you alive last time Parramatta won? I was at the time i was exactly 1 and a half

Parramatta should merge with the stagons, they can call themselves the Parrageorgewarra St-EEL-dragons and claim 20 premierships lol

it should be about the best team winning, but i can see the NRL doing all it can to make sure it has its precious sellout next weekend.

the attitude of sydney posters on here confirms that.

Love that the Canberra excuses have started already.

I'm willing to bet all the money in the world you get more penalties than us.

we can't lose

if we win we were the better team
if we lose .. the refs got the hard word from the NRL to ensure a Dogs Rabbits prelim final

Why do people keep comparing finals matches to that of the 90's and pre 2007?

They had completely different systems in place, they were all played in Sydney and were locked in from the start of the season. Tickets used to go on sale months before the event which is the only reason a game between the cowboys and storm got 16K.

Back in the 90's you could buy tickets to all the Sydney finals as a package deal at the SFS. Surely they could have done a similar deal with both finals this week? It's got nothing to do with Manly 'losing fans' over the years.

And no one is listing ticket sales as reasons for the low crowd are they? It's all about the time and the travel, but those 16,000 fans managed to get to the SFS that night for the Storm and the Cowboys. If they weren't Storm and Cowboys fans then it was an even bigger effort.

I remember a a lot of people used to come to Sydney on PF weekend

Stay at Coogee go to the 2 finals at the sfs and the races on sat

With the scheduling being so tight now. It cant really happen

The sfs looks ok with 20k let's just scrape that in

Then push 40k tomorrow and it will be a pass mark

And we need the refs to give us a fair go and we'll be right. If they let us get away with what they let the Storm get away with (not saying that's the reason we lost) we'll get past Canberra and the comp will have a sellout ANZ 2 weeks in a row.

With all the hype that Manly fans are crap, I think they might surprise a few people and attract close to 20,000.

Tonight will be nothing short of embarrassing no matter whether more than 20k turn up or not. Knock finals games at major stadia with sydneys most successful club side of the past 6 years should be drawing 30-35k minimum. But NO the usual apathetic crap like its too hard, its to far etc.... from the manly fans is sickening. It seems the attitude in NSW and QLD is to find a reason not to attend matches rather than a reason to attend

Also a bit late on this comment but what the hell is going on in north queensland with only 21k in week 1 surely the broncos fans alone in the townsville region could half fill the DFS so where are the cowboys fans and where have they been all season? There average has been plummeting now for several years!
