real fans ey.

well..maybe they dont want to get wet. maybe they have young kids who they dont want to get wet. maybe theres no where in GA (like canberra) to sit under cover.

and they probably have foxtel and a nice HD tv to watch it on.

so yeah. not real fans.
You raise some good points and i retract the real fans attend games part of my post as i dont believe that someone is less of a fan just because they dont go to games.
My cousin is probably a bigger cubbies fan than me and he has only been to a handful of games in his life

17,532 in Gosford. Ill give it a pass but should be a sell out.

Dont know Brisbane but looks 36-40k. Which IMO is very poor, considering a) how many cowboys fans are there b) there original QLD derby c) the well worn arguments about the demographics and support at the Broncos disposal.

17000 at Gosford. A trial match got 12000 in Hobart !
Maybe people in the Southern states just have a habit of going to football matches

209 K in 10 matches so far this season. To match last year the other 6 matches this round need 105k ave 17k -possible i guess.

The smallest Broncos v Cowboys crowd for a game in Brisbane since 2003. When they were playing at the old ANZ Stadium.

A rare(ish) dry one also.

Goes to show that memberships and crowds don't really seem to go hand in hand. Since Brisbane has more members than ever this year.

Well by the looks of the jump they had last week, about 10k of those are 1 game members for the cowboys clash

The way we played last week, that would have turned a few people off coming I'd say.

I think the Broncos Cowboys clash should stay round one. Even though in 2008 the round 3 got 50,612... Maybe a change to a Sunday afternoon. I do think that on a round 1 Friday night 45k is easy, just has more hype. Ridiculously good game and atmosphere though, hopefully Broncos win the next few leading up to the dragons friday night round 5 fixture.

And so what's your point? Gosford got 16,000 for a Tigers vs Parra trial. Although the Manly vs Tigers game should have been a sell-out.

You will find next year it probably will be rd1, this year Suncorp was booked out for the Roar game. If the NRL get their shit in a pile and get in before the A league do, then it should be a goer for next year. Last week just didn't feel right up here having the season opener.
