So youre saying a Nth Central Coast Sydney Bears v Canberra game at 530 on a Saturday would've got more than 11378?

Not sure who the North Central Coast Sydney Bears are.

What I can assure you of, is that people on the Central Coast love their league enough that there would've been far more than 11,378 at Bluetongue Stadium for a Central Coast Bears OPENING HOME GAME against ANY opponent a week after a season opening win.

The worst part? The Titans request Saturday 5:30pm home games as it's supposedly most convenient for their fans (who can then go out and smash up Surfers post-game).

And they also ask for it so away supporters can travel and either fly home the same night or spend the night on the coast.

God there are a lot of Chicken littles on this site

If the solution is for the NRL to walk away from the gold coast and hand a significant moral victory to the arch enemy then we are all seriously deluded

Look at the positives

The Stad contract will not last forever
The grant to the titans will go up significantly
They have an ok team that should win a few

And the Query that the stadium is too far from cavil ave is a stupid one,

Where do you build a 180 million dollar stadium ? On the beach , in jupiters ??

Let's just support GC for 15 years and then evaluate

And let the Central Coast support go unrewarded?

It's ridiculous to think that there are 7,000 people willing to pay to be members on the Central Coast when some clubs are struggling to crack 5k

Tim I'm a member of cc bears and it cost me $20.

Bit cheaper than most teams me thinks

They made it cheap to inflate the numbers

Great Sunday for Footy today in Sydney. Hopefully two decent crowds.

I think they're expecting a big turnout in the Shire

but I don't think you'll ever get much more then 10K to a Roosters V Panthers club game at the SFS

lets hope the 7pm experiment works in Melbourne
with absolutely nothing else on & a public holiday tomorrow for Victoria
plus GI back in town
I'd hope its a very very good turnout .........:)

.

no way south east qld deserves another team. they can't even fill out a 50k stadium once every fortnight.

Don't kid yourselves. The Gold Coast and Northern NSW is rugby league territory first and foremost.

The Titans need to get out there selling 4 game and 12 game memberships with public transport options, not just on the Gold Goast but everywhere from Logan down to Coffs Harbour. Pricing is the biggest concern. They're also competing against the Suns that have the advantage of having an AFL biased Stadiums QLD board member and part stadium ownership. Seems to me the Titans have got 4 options -

1) Put collective pressure on Stadiums QLD and the government to drop their rent charges in order to reduce tickets and memberships prices. Either by getting a friendly board member, making it a public media outcry and threatening to go to an independent stadium.

2) Ask a rich benefactor to act as a debt coverage provider (similar to Tinkler) so they can reduce the prices and hope that the increased overall numbers offset any losses from the price reduction

3) Similarly ask the NRL for a grant/debt coverage provision

4) Take a gamble and reduce the price themselves without the coverage protection

What an absolute crap crowd @ titans, especially after winning their 1st game.

What an absolute joke.

I dont think the solution is abandon the GC at all, but the solution us not to chuck another SE Qld team in whilst the GC are struggling to establish themselves, they clearly need more time than they have had to get a decent foothold.

The solution could also to have been ignore the sporting graveyard several years ago and made the 16th side a second Brisbane rather than a Gold Coast one.

If Sydney is anything like it is here they've got great weather as well.

AT least 15K for each match today, surely. Not outstanding but not terrible either

Sharks/Knights should get at least 15k. The Sharks seem to have embrace Sunday arvo footy in recent times over their traditional Sat night timeslot.

Roosters/Panthers however will struggle to get 15k. I'd say 12-14k.

Storm/Rabbitohs...well, that will depend on how many of the Storm members turn up. Rabbitohs aren't one of the Storm's highest drawing sides. I'd say 12-15k (given that it's perfect weather and no AFL game to compete against).

Roosters have had a good preseason and opening round winners. Penrith fans dont travel so that'll be tough.

But yeah decent crowd in the Shire should happen.

You'd think having no other sports to compete with all day would help the Storm, this is the sort of match they should be promoting the shit out of.
