Crowd in Gosford certainly isn't anything to write home about.

NRL, the good people of Gosford are sending a clear message to you. Stop messing around with them and stop disrespecting them.

Some chance of that when the NRL asks the people of Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville etc to turn out in mid winder to see teams regularly weakened in favour of a bigger competition. As long as NRL is treated as a feeder comp for Origin mid winter is dead. What chance Gosford when Sydneyside fans are taken for granted?

11,142 across the ditch today

Crowd would've been bigger if it was played at 2pm NZ time not 2pm AEST or at least if they are doing to kick off at 4pm on a Sunday at least make it a long weekend. Queens Birthday in NZ was last weekend.

You'd think a random fan could make a better draw than this fancy computer program from Canada would be able to by scheduling games to maximise better crowds. Not every state, territory or NZ has the same holidays as Sydney

Good crowd against the Sharks tonight especially given it was against a team that traditionally haven't been a big drawer down here. Our average this year is 16,700 odd so if we can keep that up or close to it'll easily beat the all time season average since the Storm's inception.

Not to mention all time high memberships so there's much to be happy about in regards to how the game in general is going here with how the Storm are going off the field, even though plenty up there will hate how they're going on it :sarcasm:

Good for the Storm that the non-drawing teams are even getting decent crowds, the overall average of the Storm would be higher if it wasn't for that Thursday crowd against the Dogs.

Per game NRL average has fallen below 17k for the first time.

Currently 16,889 by my figures.

Storm crowd: 16,231. Another good post-origin crowd. Overall, pretty good Sunday crowds despite post-Origin hangover/hysteria.

I have to keep laughing at those imbeciles from south of the border in the media. Heard Derryn Hinch have a go at Paul Gallen, likening him to a SERIAL THUG in Barry Hall.

And I concur, good to see the Storm crowds strong this year. Maybe, just MAYBE, this year is the turning point for the Storm. For years, they have struggled with barely any publicity and exposure in Melbourne (they would be ecstatic if they got even 10% of the publicity and exposure the Sydney Swans have had in Sydney).

Now, with this being the second year of the ARLC and the first year of the new tv deal which stipulates that all FTA games are now shown into non-RL states at decent times, as well as the Storm seeing an increase in home crowds compared to previous years - as well as strong tv ratings in Melbourne with Wednesday's Origin match being the highest rating ever in Melbourne (431k) - I feel the tide is turning for the better and rugby league is slowly clawing their way into the pro-AFL media in Melbourne. Still a very long way to go, but I feel that the AFL is slowly losing the stranglehold they once had in the media, largely off the back of favourable media coverage and media deals.
