Absolutely shit time for a game. Very good crowd.
100% agreed, and you can blame Ch9 for that. Although Ch9 had a later starting time scheduled (8:05pm, compared to what should've been 7:45-7:50pm like it is on Friday nights), they deliberately delayed kickoff for another 10 mins until 8:15pm so they wouldn't have to compete against MKR on Ch7.
Because of this, I can see next week's Eels/Bulldogs and the following week's Storm/Bulldogs matches' crowd attendances being below expectations. Sea Eagles/Tigers in Gosford in Week 4 will do very well because it occurs the day before Easter (I will say it is about time we finally had a Thursday night game during the Easter period, after giving AFL such a free run in that timeslot for so many years).
And understandably, all those ppl who say that the NRL has been introducing timeslots that aren't family friendly are justfied. Although, this is the tradeoff for the $1 billion+ tv rights deal unfortunately. Funny how in their NRL shows, Fox have remained very quiet on this issue (since they've got 2 of those timeslots: Monday night, and Sunday night (for 13 rounds) this year. Ch9 have Thursday night for the first 4 rounds).
