Apparently the crowd applauded the Dogs fans who were there with an anti-SBW sign.

The crowd was clearly majority Souths fans.

25k Souths, 10k Easts

You are an imbecile BM. Even on the side where the burrow was (The TV side for those watching at home i.e. you) was majority easts. The burrow had 4 bays full of souths fans on that side and the other 8 bays were clearly easts.

I was on the camera side of which the middle few bays were clearly easts and where I was on the general admin side was 50/50. I can?t comment about the other end of the general admin on the camera side as I couldn?t see.

Crazy gun man in Brisbane - I have a feeling that may affect some people in the city that were thinking about taking their kids to the game tonight.

Not an excuse - crowd is going to be shit regardless but crazy hooligans tuning around the city with guns isn't going to help.

It's becoming borderline comical the excuses Broncos supporters use to not turn up to the game, it's the first game of the season against a rival team in Manly. Seriously, what would it take to get them to get to the game they have all this success yet still not satisfied to show up.

For being the self-appointed league capital it underperformed again, if Broncos supporter can't get up for the opener that what will.

Since when are Manly a rival of Brisbane?

Yeah they played them in their 1st game 25 years ago...who really cares?

Sea Eagles tipped to slide this season, most think the Broncos are shot (we will see) and it is still a good chance to surpass last nights match featuring the oldest and possibly biggest rivalry in the game.

Cry more.

I hate the donkeys and like it when they get a crap crowd, however this gunman could actually affect the crowd tonight depending on how long it takes the police to end it. They have asked for the mall to be evacuated, if you know where suncorp is evacuating the mall for a long period will compound the lack of willingness for families to come into town.

Edit* typically as soon as I posted the above the crazed Gunman has been taken into custody.

Absolutely shit time for a game. Very good crowd.

100% agreed, and you can blame Ch9 for that. Although Ch9 had a later starting time scheduled (8:05pm, compared to what should've been 7:45-7:50pm like it is on Friday nights), they deliberately delayed kickoff for another 10 mins until 8:15pm so they wouldn't have to compete against MKR on Ch7.

Because of this, I can see next week's Eels/Bulldogs and the following week's Storm/Bulldogs matches' crowd attendances being below expectations. Sea Eagles/Tigers in Gosford in Week 4 will do very well because it occurs the day before Easter (I will say it is about time we finally had a Thursday night game during the Easter period, after giving AFL such a free run in that timeslot for so many years).

And understandably, all those ppl who say that the NRL has been introducing timeslots that aren't family friendly are justfied. Although, this is the tradeoff for the $1 billion+ tv rights deal unfortunately. Funny how in their NRL shows, Fox have remained very quiet on this issue (since they've got 2 of those timeslots: Monday night, and Sunday night (for 13 rounds) this year. Ch9 have Thursday night for the first 4 rounds).

I haven't been to an NRL game for years until last night. Enjoyed the game. Crowd was big but was a golfing atmosphere.
