Broncos smallest season home opening crowd since 2004 when they drew 28,548 against the Warriors.

Maybe they should always open the season with a game against the Cowboys.

Why do you think of the low Bronco's crowd ? is it because they don't represent the whole of Brisbane Rugby League following.
What can and should be down.

When was the last time a Sydney team drew 31k against a non nsw team?

Broncos should be doing better but compared to the 10-12k most Sydney teams draw as home fans they are hardly an embarrassment.

No just the reality that bagging a team off for drawing 28k+ home town fans when no other club in the league can get close to that is stupid. What would other clubs Avg's be if they didn't have their crowds boosted by away fans and the odd local blockbuster derby?

As I said Brisbane have no excuse not to be 40k + but to suggest they are a disgrace because they only get 28k+ home fans is laughable in the context of the rest of the clubs in the NRL.

One team in a city of 1.5 million people in the supposed home of RL and you have to make excuses for them???? It was a piss poor crowd against a top quality team, it just shows unless the Bronco's are at the pointy end of the competition their fans just don't seem as interested. Brisbane is the biggest band wagon city in the country.

What excuse? I am not making excuses, I am putting them in context of other clubs. They should get more, but compared to other clubs they are travelling ok. Take away the away fans from Sydney games and the home crowd is around 10-12k per 500k population. Suddenly brisbanes 28k per 1.5mill isn't so bad is it? Your argument that Sydney clubs can't get big home crowds would suggest you think we should cull Sydney teams if we expect them to get 20k plus home fans?

Yeah thats exactly what i'm saying

31k was a shit crowd no matter which way you look at it,any excuse to have a dig at Sydney and the number of teams that play out of there.

So we can have a dig at Brisbane but not Sydney? Ok fair enough, sorry didn't realise that was a forum condition.

Yes it's still just as bad. They have the whole Brisbane market to themselves and they have been by far the most successful team since their inclusion.

Give a few Sydney teams the broncos form and see how things go. Better yet give the broncos the form of a team like, say, souths and see how they go. There will be mulitple teams in Sydney averaging 20K plus in the near future and some of the potential to average quite a bit more. Switch souths and broncos form for the last 10 years and i wonder how the comparison would be?

Sydney draws far more fans overall than Brisbane and i don't see how the current situation can be anything but a disappointment. Considering it's our 2nd biggest market we don't get nearly enough fans through the gate there each year.

So we can have a dig at Brisbane but not Sydney? Ok fair enough, sorry didn't realise that was a forum condition.

Have a dig at whoever you like but people are going to call you out on stuff if you're wrong. In this case it's obvious you have an agenda and you're going to get called out on that.

As I said no excuses they should be doing better BUT to suggest 28k+ broncos fans turning out for a game is somehow poor when you have every other club not even close and some clubs who struggle to break 10'000 home fans is laughable. It's not all about population size, some clubs with smaller populations are drawing more home fans than clubs with much bigger catchments. When ANY heartland club in Sydney is getting anywhere close to avg'ing 20k HOME fans then you have the right to knock Brisbane.

In Brisbane there is now not only interest in League..

Roar doing ok.. And Reds actually drawing well.

Looks like 30-32k here at the stadium. Few heavy showers made the line up walk away.

I'm a Roar fan mate, crowds are dropping there too.

Brisbane fans are largely bandwagoners IMO. People don't show up when they don't think the team will win.

Being saying this for a long time, IMO it was becoming a nice tradition that got people through the gates and excited to start the season with a bang rather than a whimper (people from all over the state BTW). NRL doesn't seem to respect any kind of tradition though.
