There's nothing else to watch - they may as well have.

Probably got scared of losing the ratings to 'Mexican Fiesta with Peter Kuruvita' - so maybe a wise choice not to put a game on tonight? If people didn't tune in for that, no doubt they would be watching SBS afterwards for 'Make Hummus Not War'

Crowds have dropped 20% since Gallop was dumped

In that time Parra have been shithouse, tigers shithouse, brisbane largely shithouse and the Dragons shithouse, 4 high drawing teams (especially with away games in the Dragons case). Roosters have drawn decent crowds but don't have as high a ceiling as the other couple of clubs, Manly don't pull great crowds, neither do Melbourne. Of the highest drawing sides only Canterbury have been consistently good in that time. Which goes some of the way to explaining the drop in crowds since Gallops departure.

Only thing I can think of is Fox has the rights as trade off for ANZAC Day. Both teams made the 8 last year. So chances were both would be going well again and is crazy it's not.

Buzz is a twit, crowds have fluctuated around the same averages over the last 15 years.

Yeah I didn't think it was correct.

Even if it was I wouldn't think there was any matter of Gallops demise having an impact, there's been a host of other factors.

“Everyone’s confused,” says David Gyngell. “The Wests Tigers are at Campbelltown, ANZ, Leichhardt Oval.

“St George are at Homebush, Wollongong and Kogarah. How would you know if you are a punter where your team is playing?

You look at the paper maybe? Watch the TV previews? Look at it online? FFS if you want to know where they are playing it takes about a minute.

No surprises the biggest increases have been in 2005 and 2009.
2005: Eels 1st, Dragons 2nd, Broncos 3rd, Tigers 4th+premiers, Bulldogs reigning premiers
2009: Dragons 1st, Bulldogs 2nd, Eels grand finalists, Broncos prelim finalists

That's the point... Wooden spooners are having a crack this year and there fans are getting excited! = More people going to games!! Same as Wests (Who many predicted to come last)... South Sydney V Doggies will get a big crowd, if the other games gets a bigger crowd, that?s awesome!
FYI Parramatta is closer to Homebush then Belmore... Tigers territory isn't to far away either AND both use it as there home ground (Whether it's one game or 12).

Get those excuses in early.

The Eels don't even need to be playing finals footy to outdraw LOL@Souffs or the Bulldogs at ANZ.
Let's just look at what has actually happened:

Eels average HOME crowd @ ANZ = 29,633

Souffs average home crowd @ ANZ = 16,211

Bulldogs average home crowd @ ANZ = 19,394

Tigers average home crowd @ ANZ = 23,923

So as we can see, there is a very clear hierarchy here:
Eels
Tigers
Bulldogs
Souffs.

I apologize to all Souths fans who have a brain. This post is solely intended to humiliate the moron, Bunniesman. Unfortunately he can't read numbers bigger than 4, so he won't realize what has just been pointed out to him.

*edit* Quick edit to add the Dragons, who have played 8 home games at ANZ. 19,911 - putting them third in the 'hierarchy'.

Well done Bunniesman for pointing out that Souths are the least popular club in Sydney, when considering all clubs who use ANZ at least semi-regularly. *edit*
If you don't see the failure in logic in comparing Tigers and Parra ANZ crowds to Souths ANZ crowds you are mad.

Our numbers include nobodies like the Raiders and Cowboys. You guys only take your biggest rivalry games there. Your average at ANZ should be much higher. That doesn't mean anything.

So you are now admitting that the Tigers/ Eels game should be expected to have a bigger crowd than the Dogs/ Souths game?

Just wondering how that fits with your 'hierarchy'

Worth noting that souths have had 1 home crowd ever against the Bulldogs which has broken 30k.
In the last 7 years, you've had 3 crowds bigger than 30k.
Hopefully you break it this time around!

No doubt the reciprocal ANZ rights + members benefits pads out your average somewhat.

The Eels have also only had 3 games bigger than 30k in that timeframe - PAX makes it look like a dead set cert that we'll hit our 4th!

Dave Smith comparing the price of the eastershow family ticket to the footy family ticket lol nice one.

Piss monday nights off, that will help crowds. I dont go to many games but I was going to go to the Panthers this week till I saw it was a Monday, f**k that I will be comfortable drinking and eating cheap food and beer at home or at the pub.

So why are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays somehow more comfortable at the footy than at home or at the pub?
I don't like Monday nights either but that attitude damages crowds far more than monday night games.

rothfield is a twit

crowds were 16k average

to be down 20% the average this year would have to be 12,800 per game when its 15,800

cant he just write about soccer and leave league alone

They aren't more comfy but they also arent a work day. Its a 2 hour commute to and from Penrith home games for me, not doing that after work, and I am working this monday though only a few hours.

My point was I dont mind being a bit less comfortable and spending more money and doing the travel etc on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday but not on a monday after work with work the next day aswell.

Call me soft or a sook or whatever but I dont care, its just easier and far less expensive for me to watch on TV. I would of gone this week if it was a Saturday or Sunday game.

But thats just my situation, In general who actually likes going to the footy on Monday nights?

Even though Parra aren't playing fulltime at ANZ and its not our home ground as of yet Eels fans are making sure on Monday that we mark that stadium as our turf as we move there in the future, get the hell out of our stadium Bunnies and Doggies,ANZ will be renamed Parramatta Stadium in the future

ANZ Stadium is now Parramatta Stadium, get off our turf peasants
