yep.

some quotes to prove the point.

This is a Freo member in the 3 tier stand at Subi. "If you're lucky enough to get too many fatties sitting in your row, the space allocated to you via the painted white lines on the backrest shrinks, so just sitting involves more physical contact than a Melbourne player may encounter during a game. Premium Gold is what my seat is classified as, they're obviously taking the piss."

WCE supporters can get the following for $65

"PRIORITY ACCESS TO SEAT RESALE TICKETS
POSITION ON WAIT LIST TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR SEATING AT THE NEW PERTH STADIUM"

or this from a guy who had already been on the wait list for 6 years.

Received an email this morning from west coast eagles, paragraph below.

" In 2012, the loyalty of in the wings members was once again demonstrated with a 90% renewal rate. This, combined with a renewal rate of 97% among our season members, has meant very little movement on the waiting list, with the majority of 'In the wings' members not expected to receive a seat offer until the new stadium is completed in 2018"

so the Eagles are pulling 700K+/yr from people in the queue for a seat in 2018. money for nothing essentially.

they are the envy of every other club irrespective of code australia wide.

so yes, the NRL would probably go OK in perth if for no other reason than people might get to go to a game of something.
By the time the NRL gets a team in Perth the new 60k stadium will be up and running for the AFL.

If that's the case we need to be in Perth.

I don't think the AFL being popular in Perth is a guarantee of big crowds for a "out of town" sport. Thats like saying Soccer is massive in Western Sydney therefore the AFL should go gangbusters there.

Of more comparison would be the Rugby, how are they travelling? Considering they may be a very similar entity, in that they might start with a lot of hype but not deliver on the field for many years.

Penrith more or less saying the fanbase isn't there to be in Penrith fulltime.

And lol @ the pipedream of a 35k stadium in Penrith. Will never happen. If there is a major upgrade it's going to Parra every day of the week. Parra has a bigger fanbase themselves and then you have the Wanderers and the better location.

Penrith needs to refocus on more realistic goals.

I know reading isn't your strong suit this is an actual quote from Warren Wilson

The Panthers have not been scheduled even one Sunday afternoon game this year and have had to play on Monday nights four times, mostly in the rain.

Monday night comp wise average is around 10k. So to have 4 of them will hit the average. Throw in Bathurst which only holds around 10k.

We played Souths it poured down. Played Dragons/Bulldogs both on the twilight Sat night slot which is also a poor crowd puller. Didn't play our biggest crowd drawer in Tigers at home. Played all out of Sydney teams

In typical DT form. We aren't leaving Penrith another home game will be moved to Christchurch meaning we make a profit on 2 teams atleast. Throw in a couple of Sunday games and we will be atleast mid table in crowd averages

Any updates for tonight crowd? 25-30k should be expected if weather holds off?

No Chance! I'm thinking around the 17-18K mark... Channel 9 have struck again!

So many people I know refuse to go thursday night games anymore because of the crazy kick off time!

Also it was bucketing down in the morning, most people on a work night obviously would decide in the morning if they go or not and take clothes etc with them too work.

NRL / soccer / union really need to be in Colin Barnett's ear about making the new Perth ground multi purpose ie rolling seats

Offer them SOO. Bledisloe. Test matches. Asian cups games etc

Once its built. Its too late

Once the design has been approved, it's too late :(

A multi-purpose Stadium accommodating AFL, cricket and entertainment events with drop-in seats adding flexibility to host rugby union and league, and soccer (football). Capability to host major events consistent with requirements for Commonwealth Games and international athletics.

I see roosters playing the storm on Saturday and had a decent crowd last year. Will roosters crowd show up this year, biggest drop off since winning a premiership.

Doing my comparison of games again (see http://forums.leagueunlimited.com/sh...postcount=2019).

Round 24 (119k) was 8k down on the average of the equivalent games from 2009-2013 (127k). This is now the 5th consecutive week of negatives, and we have only had 1 positive in the last 15 rounds.

crowd_2014_24.png

The biggest gap was Thursday night's Bulldogs vs Wests Tigers, -13k on average. This was the lowest crowd for this fixture since 2003.

Excluding this loss, the other 7 games were positive overall.

There were 3 other negatives:
- Broncos vs Knights -4k (smallest crowd for this fixture since 1989)
- Dragons vs Titans -2k (smallest crowd for this fixture ever)
- Panthers vs Storm -1k

The 3 positive games were:
- Eels vs Sea Eagles +5k (largest crowd for this fixture since 2007)
- Rabbitohs vs Cowboys +5k (largest crowd for this fixture ever)
- Sharks vs Raiders +3k (largest crowd for this fixture since 2003)

Warriors vs Roosters was marginally lower than the average.

Next week's par crowd total is 145k, but again I think we will struggle to get that.

My guesses are:
- Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs 20k
- Broncos vs Dragons 35k
- Knights vs Eels 13k
- Raiders vs Wests Tigers 11k
- Roosters vs Storm 15k
- Warriors vs Titans 15k
- Sea Eagles vs Panthers 14k
- Cowboys vs Sharks 10k
Total: 133k

If weather holds off I think a decent crowd is on offer. Sadly most roosters fans attitude this year has mirrored the team's i.e. we will perform later in the year when it counts.

Your club isn't the only one with shitty draws. We've had one home game in Sydney on a Sunday afternoon in 3 years.

In many respects I hope the average continues to nosedive, and people turn away from attending games so we end up with an average less than last year.

It is only after significant losses that management will start to rectify their ridiculous scheduling and inducements to get people to the game.

An actual strategy is required, rather than the current 'just let Channel Nine run the game' approach we have currently.

I reluctantly agree with the first paragraph. If the average is what they use a small a gage for the health of attendances then it will take a large drop to wake them up.

The nose dive in the last 6 weeks has been sad and paints a picture for hq which they are sadly ignoring. Green berg literally thinks Monday and Thursdays are no problem

We're pretty much guaranteed to be below last year. Which was below the year before.
