I do think where the NRL could improve crowds for Monday or Thursday nights would be with students.
Give them a free pass and promote the game to international and local Uni students so they know the game is on.
Free seating behind the goal posts.
We need to start filling those behind the posts emptyness. By any means possible. Bring in the army navy anyone, just get those empty deserts filled.
I have a idea for rent-a-crowd. Where you go on a mailing or phone list where clubs give you a call to get in free to fill the ends of stadiums.
So any time you get a tweet or phone call from a club, it means you can get in free to fill the behind the posts,.

Yes and one is live and one is delayed. Have said this for years...the Sunday game should be live to start at 3:30pm. Will allow 9 to have a 30min preview and have their normal ads at halftime.

Read the question again you stupid merkin.

dunno if this might work but if every team plays a monday night game in the country we'd be killing two birds with one stone

Im sure country folk would turn up to a monday night game if promoted as a big occasion

we are only averaging 10000 for our monday night games anyway so rooster vs titans at mudgee on a monday would probably attract more than the recent 6000 at the SFS

I like the idea. Plus the student night.

Essentially what you guys are saying is "Let's give away free tickets".

Thats proven to not work in the long term, it devalues the other ticket prices and discourages people from buying tickets knowing that they may be able to jag a free one.

Just like Origin next year, people will now be wary of pre-purchasing tickets for high prices knowing that the QRL had to heavily discount them with weeks to go because of the sluggish sales.

You wouldn't do it all free. No reason every game can't be say $5 for GA. Charge what you want for the Premium seats. The issue atm is people are happy just to watch on TV so we need to get them out to a game

Tracking quite well.

Add the 16k Souths ticketed members and it looks like it will be a bumper crowd.

On a Thursday anything over 25k for this game will be a pass mark imo.

Soufs ticketed members don't get in.

it is a roosters home game at SFS

Will Fox be happy to pay the costs of shipping their equipment and staff all over the countryside? I doubt it.

The NRL seriously needs to do something about scheduling and promotion.

Too many fans simply couldn't be bothered anymore.

I know of 15 people who will not attend the Dogs v Souths game because it's on a Thursday night.

The NRL needs to get serious about boosting crowds and improving timeslots has a lot to do with that.

I'm not going with the usual 3 others...

We went last thursday and cannot do it again, next day at work it wasn't pretty lol. Monday night is fine because of the 7pm kick off.

Monday night is shit. Just look at the crowd figures for proof.

Don't disagree... Personally I would go Monday night, I won't go thursday night anymore because of the start times.

This game could've potentially on a fine Friday night, Saturday OR Sunday attracted a crowd of 35K+... I cannot see more then 20K on Thursday night.

RWB, YES, two for Tuesday. Throw in a free pizza as well.

I was reading a interesting story from Dave Smith yesterday.
He mentioned we sat in a good spot because the TV networks wanted Monday night and even Thursday night footy. So next deal they will pay more to keep them.
He also mentioned breaking the slots up, Thursday nights at the beginning of the year, Monday nights towards the end. So the cold period around origin time wont have any night footy, which is good because Origin is on Wednesday nights.
I have never made sense of playing Monday night games during origin week anyhow. That is the worst planning i have ever seen.

Ratings for a Thursday night game hit 1 million viewers. That is rich pickings.
Monday night games on Fox are popular. I dont think i have missed a game yet for 3 years.

AFL got more money and no Monday nights. Time for the NRL to put the fans first for a change. Expansion will give an extra game which will more than make up for the loss of games on a Monday night,

Could be a bad memory on my part, but I seem to recall the NRL took less than they could otherwise have got in order to get rid of some rights Nein currently hold?

Gives them a 'free swing' next time.
