. report the facts.
Going to be wet in Melbourne over the weekend, about 11-12,000 at the Storm/Newcastle game I think.
Surely the Broncos supporters will come out in fully force and back their team. Predicting 30,000.
Manly vs Dogs ...mmm...13,000.
A Couple of sh*t seasons will test them. However, it galvanises the core supporter base. Broncos need it. There's an entire generation who can't remember they're side being terrible, might give them a dose of humility.
Absolutely. Over and above that, it'd mean the club has to start actually appreciating its fans. I almost want a few seasons of horrific performances sometime - the Broncos are the most arrogant and closed-off club when it comes to their treatment of decent fans, but when there's only 9,000 of us showing up every fortnight, one day, they'll have to take note.
. Wankers like Perth Red and PBB expect them to turn up every week - while they turn up to their one Perth game or 12 Brisbane games and hang sh*t on Sydney. 30k last night wasn't great considering 2million people live here and more than half the crowd were wearing black.
Who cares about alienating 12k of people when the rest dont give a damn when you can include places like CC and Sunshine Coast with 20k averages and a community who gives a damn about their team.Does noone understand that while individually the crowds are poor in Sydney, cutting clubs will also cut fans? This assumption that less fans > bigger crowds is rubbish, you're going to alienate thousands of people in Sydney!
Sydney=4.5million. Brisbane =1.8million. And yes less Sydney teams is the way to go to concentrate the fan base of Sydney teams over a period of time.Poorboys it's easy for brisbane to get those crowds, one team one city. If we had less teams in sydney the crowd would be bigger.
Also why is no one having a go at roosters crowds? They have to have one of the smallest fan bases in Sydney (judging from crwds anyway)
Everything you say just strengthens the argument that Sydney needs less teams.:sleeper: What a stupid point to make. Completely different locations.
Oh the old "I'm right, I don't care about what anyone else says" argument ...
People make this grand argument that Sydney has a population of 4.4 million and should be getting full houses to every RL game.
FACT: Sydney has the most migrants per capita, primarily from non-RL nations. People with no interest in RL.
FACT: Sydney, while having a bigger population than other cities, also has a more crowded market and therefore more competition for crowds. What actually opposes AFL in Melbourne? AFL is Melbourne, Sydney's more than just RL.
FACT: Sydney has 8 clubs, Brisbane 1. Of course Brisbane's crowds are going to be bigger. They only get 12 games a year FFS!
Can't see 9000 turning up. The best is an alternative, an alternative IN Brisbane. You only have to see how Logan has embraced the Titans to realise that. The furthest I typically go is Underwood and you see as much Titans gear as Broncos gear. It's a shame that the Crushers were so terribly run and came into existance during Super League.
The fact is sydney crowds are sh*t!
ramble on - Sydney crowds get under 10k crowds. This day and age clubs should be averaging over 15k, that isnt asking alot. Sydney crowds are crap - and the longer people like you keep your head in the sand the longer things will stay the same and our game will suffer for it.
Like any Roosters fan I wouldnt be happy to see my team go under. And yes I would still follow them if they were exiled to the NSW Cup or relocated.Would you be happy for the Roosters to go under? Would you follow Rugby League as passionately if the Roosters no longer played in the top flight? Relocated to Gosford or Adelaide?
I say this as someone who has openly stated on the board that I think my side will more likely than not end of up on the Sunshine Coast in 2020.
Ipswich and The Sunshine Coast are the next logical choices for Queensland. Ipswich would make an ideal 2nd Brisbane side due to its unique history and its proximity to the Darling Downs.
I'm just confused as to why the AFL teams in Melbourne can get 80,000 crowds and average 30,000, when teams in Sydney can't. Culture?
A quick check shows Sydney teams average about 126,000 per week to all home games this season .
Do you really want someone to undo your pathetic argument with facts again?
Or do you just want to isolate one or two words from someone's post as another insult?
