Jesus, those of you predicting anything less than 18,000 or so at Newie don't know the supporters. Given how far down the ladder we are, I think the crowd is an excellent indication of how loyal the majority of fans are.

We'll crack 130,000 for this round, no worries

Does anyone have a rundown of the crowd totals for each week thus far?

yep thats why the club needs to be privatised
theres 10s if not 100s of thousand really joes who follow the knights who would love to own part of their club.

Warren Smith wrote a great article in big league about the Greenbay Packers and what they did when they privatised he tends to feel it would work for the knights.

I'd like to see how that works. you can't buy just one piece and expect the club to run on that. There must be ongoing calls for cash from members, surely. Anyone know?

To give everyone an idea on just how much things have imropved - using last night as an example - have a look at what those 3 games got last year at the same venues.

2004 (2005):

Parramatta v Wests - 14,196 (18,107)
Penrith v North Qld - 12,391 (17,998)
Cronulla v Brisbane - 12,565 (17,864)

Average - 13,051 (17,990)

An increase of just under 5,000 on average.

Cheers.

Here's the list so far:

Eels vs Wests: 14,196 (18,107)
Penrith vs North QLD:12,391 (17,998)
Sharks vs Broncos:12,565 (17,864)
Raiders vs Storm:9,801 (13,280)
Knights vs Bulldogs:16,562 (18,331)
Sea Eagles vs Rabbitohs:9,864 (18,378)
Total: 75,379 (103,958)
average:12,563 (17,326)

Tommorows match:
Roosters vs Dragons:26,246 (???)

Genuine Crowd Growth. Not like that Naffy AFL crowd 'growth', where they've stuffed the beginning of thier season with as many high drawing matches as possible.

Jesus, Newcastle and the Dogs drawing the biggest crowd of the round (so far) is a pretty decent effort. I hadn't noticed that.

Considering both teams' form, I'm amazed that the Knights/Dogs match drew HIGHER than last year!

I don't think the Knights did their fans any harm yesterday, either -- thrilling, competitive match, just missing the fairytale ending.

Just heard on the radio that the start of the Anzac Day match will be delayed

Why?

Too many people still outside the stadium trying to get inside

Disapointing from Canberra.

We never pull huge crowds on long weekends - its always been that way cause everyone down here nicks off to the coast.

Still, over 13K isn't that bad considering there couldn't have been more than 500 Storm supporters, and the fact that we had next to no chance of winning this weekend.

HOLY SH!T

That's really great. I know it will probably flatten out over the year, but still...

And to think barely a year ago so many media types were predicting (or hoping for?) the death of Rugby League.
