I watched Tigers vs Panthers. Benji Marshall is one of my favorite players to watch. I bet he could have been an excellent read option QB if he was born in America. Also, Marika Koroibete would make a solid pro RB.

The Knights' Akuila Uate is another favorite of mine that I would like to see how well he could be playing American football.

It's interesting to think how the skills would match up, I do the same thing when I'm watching the NFL. I remember watching the Atlanta Falcons, seeing Michael Turner cart the ball up on every play and thinking he would make a great prop in RL, and of course there's guys like Larry Fitzgerald who would be electric in the backs.

One of the best American Football -> RL converts is a guy called Nate Smith, who was actually a kicker in college. He was touted as a potential NRL player and spent some time training with the Parramatta Eels before returning to America.

That of course would depend on which of the 35 countries in America he would then have been born in, since America is a continent and not a country. The Yanks' arrogance in claiming the word for themselves alone is truly disgusting!

For what it's worth, accepted collective name for nth, sth and central Americas is 'the americas' because they're plural. America or the US are common names for USA. Who says they called themselves that? Maybe it was someone else. Were you there?

I think Big Picture is technically right, even moreso when talking about "Americans" - Canadians and Chileans are Americans in my book. But yeah, it's a football forum, don't want to chase this poor fellow away!

Yes, but as far as I know, the United States is the only country that actually uses the word "America" in its name. Also, the word "Yanks" is offensive to Americans (United Statsians??) south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Very few NFL players would be stars in rugby league. Maybe Troy Polamolu, Devin Hester, or Ed Reed. It's just such a different set of skills needed to play each sport. I think fast linebackers, defensive backs, and running backs would have the best chance.

As far as NRL players, Akuila Uate would be a good power fullback. I think Billy Slater and Ben Barba would make great receivers/special teams players.

That's crazy. There are more NFL players that could cross over to nrl than the other way around.

I think that players from both sports could both play and excellent in the other sport if they were given the opportunity to learn the game at an early age.

Played safety in college I would have loved the opportunity to play rugby league (not union) as a youth. I think I could've been a good winger or FB.

I hate that discovered rugby league so late life. Also I'm glad this forum exists.

I meant no disrespect using the word America because that is how the USA and other nations refer to it.

So what do you call people actually from the US?

America can be used to refer to the US or to the two continents.

Regardless, it's good to see more following the game over there.
