I'd have been in favour of Schif this time last week. But now that we have Hilder and Covell to kick, we don't need him. A one year deal with a performance based option on the second sounds good for Peach. 3rd greatest player in Sharks history? Gavin Miller might take issue with that assessment.

Rat 'walked away' for twice what we could pay him, which was a lot. Lets be realistic...

I think offer him 2 years for less money - clearly he's made a bit out of footy and money is not the prime factor in the situation.

Madunit whilst statistically Schifcofske may be better than Peachey, Peach's value is what can't be measured on stats. Taking the pressure off Noddy, providing leadership and if there was a stat for bombs defused, he'd have taken 100%.

Peach needs to be retained for at least 1, preferably 2 years in order to teach Simmons and Merritt how to earn frequent flyer points.

Retain him for one year
See how he is going at the end of next year
And when he's done, offer him a well paid, long term job scouting and developing players in the bush, and promoting the club.

Sounds like a plan. Be great to have the inside track to some of those players not already on contract to the Roosters.

I reckon you've hit the nail on the head here ShireShark as IMO Peach has 1 more year left in him on the field and with his standing in the league society he would make a great scout for us, especially in the bush where he would get 1st go at the juniors

The bush is great for a while, and then it bores you shitless.

I was bored of it after 13 years

I stayed for another 10 after that. Smart eh? #-o

One of the best ideas, the only thing is, can our board be trusted to cash Peach up in retirement, or would they try and snake him?
