Daine Laurie

If this bloke isn't the most overhyped, over-rated player in the comp I'll give it away. I heard people say he's:
*The new Sonny Bill
*The new Tallis
*The new Mason (before he sucked)
*A bolter for origin

The truth is he's a 24 year old journeyman with hands like feet. He's quite aggressive but gives away dumb penalties, abit like Watmough on a bad day.
Honestly if he was a white guy with normal hair he'd be just another fringe 1st grader but because he looks different people think he's a cult hero and this great player.
A bloke like Zeb Taia has just as much of an impact as Daine Laurie, but without the brain explosions, knock ons, penalties and stays on the field twice as long yet never gets mentioned, yet Laurie is in papers nearly everyweek.

I know the commentor's get excited when he runs the ball and but I have never heard mention of any of the above.

I like his aggression but the amount of penalties he gives away, and his hit and miss style of defence mean that I'd hate him at the Knights.

Forgive my ignorance but is he the dude who totally blew that try on the weekend?

If so.........even in my woeful career did I do anything nearly as bad.
Possibly the biggest fugup of the decade when it comes to blowing a certain try.

Er....

Simmons dropped the ball over the line with no one within 5m of him against Souths only a handful of rounds ago.

Also, if we are going back 10 years Carch.... that also brings Mundine's bounce in the 99 Grand Final into play.

Just thought I would bring that one up as it still to this day seems to upset Saints fans.

Well Mundine had the ball knocked out of hs hands. Laurie had the ball in his bread-basket and it just went straight through him. Can't really compare the two.

Id wait another year or 2 before sticking the boots into him. At this point in time he's a work in progress and nothing more.

Dave Simmons against the Bunnies would debate that.

yes Simmons was bad...ok ....I did agree.
the bloke sucks.
But like I said, his was from a kick, making it a poofteenth harder to read... and credit where credit is due the bloke has scored some great trys from kicks.

This bloke yesterday dropped a pass the hit him in the chest..but he actually caught it, tucked it under the arm...then dropped it.
He didn't even get to fug up the put down.

Richardsons was a balltearer...worst nightmare stuff.
..Mundines was a case of him being a hog...he passes the ball they win the comp.

who was the souths players that dropped one years ago doing a big swan dive?

I remember watching a replay Chris Walker ran 30m to the tryline in his Broncos days, then he spilt the ball when attempting to plant it down.

Love him.

If he was on our team then Id probably be annoyed with him, but he is exciting to watch. More of an old school forward. He will come good. More time he gets more he will develop.

The worst balls-up of a try goes to Matt Head against the Tigers about 2 years ago.

He was through, and just jogged around under the black dot, and as he went to ground it with absolutely no one around him, he knocked it on.

If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't of believed it.

Dragons went on to lose that game.

Off the top of my head I cannot think of one to eclips Dane LAURIE's effort. I laugh every time I think about it, hilarious.

10m out, no pressure at all, ball goes down.

What about Head's one a from '07 playing for the Dragons v Tigers when he was over the line and cruising round to put it under the sticks and he dropped it cold.

I would much rather watch this guy play than half the nothing robot forwards we have in todays game.

Perry.. White.. Gibbs.. etc etc.

When Parra beat Brisbane 68-22, that Emmet clown kneed a ball from his own arms over the tryline.
